After banning swimming pools, Pervez Khattak wants one in CM House

PESHAWAR: Despite imposition of Section 144 by Peshawar District Administration on building swimming pools in the city to control dengue outbreak, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak is all set to build a swimming pool at the CM House that would cost more than Rs18 million to the provincial exchequer.

The K-P Communication and Works Department has published an advertisement in newspapers inviting tenders for the construction of swimming pool in the Chief Minister House Peshawar. The swimming pool will cost Rs18.52 million and the bids opening date is 26th of this month, as per the advertisement.

Alongside, the CM House is constructing new barracks, bunkers watch tower, security wall, barber shop and Dhobi Gath which are also included in the tenders invitation and its cost is Rs23.2 million.

The advertisement has simultaneously appeared in the time when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led K-P government has imposed health emergency across the province to control dengue outbreak while the district administration Peshawar has imposed band on swimming pools in the city.

Once upon a time CM house was supposed to be turned into a public library in 2013 but I guess that can be thrown away as election unrealistic promises.

Was the election promise of turning into library for Governor House or CM House- I might be totally off, but I thought it was for Governor House.

Back in 2013 in the newspapers I read cm house and I remember khattak after becoming CM saying never promised so not gonna happen...

I think they mentioned it in their manifesto.

On a serious not you are right that the limelight has been on Punjab lately, but you have to admit that there are reasons for that.

I agree that this is a bad move regardless. CM Khattak is a strange fellow, IK ought to slap some sense into him before he does something stupid for real.

[On our earlier post of Swimming Pool tender in CM House KPK we got a reply from PTI Officials:

"CM doesn't live in CM house there was a proposal that CM house will be used by the top tax payers and businessmen but that proposal didn't work out so the revonation + the Swimming pool construction was cancelled"

Imran Khan already admitted he had no idea what to do after winning in KP. Where will CM meet people? On streets? He doesn't just have to meet locals but foreigners also in CM house. Imagine the impression it will make if CM is meeting foreigners in streets.
