He said that to its nature of duty, Police remained the most vulnerable target and as many as 79 police personnel have embraced martyrdom in just last six months. However, he despite the risks and vulnerabilities faced by the police, it is making all possible efforts to prevent and detect cases of terrorism.
The police chief said that during last four months Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has successfully foiled 57 attacks by the terrorists while Bomb Disposal Squad has diffused 282 IEDs across the province. Notwithstanding, the loss of four of its personnel during bomb disposal, the BDS continued to perform their duties in a courageous manner.
He also appreciated the bravery and courage of Frontier Constabulary (FC) and BDS for preventing a big loss in Monday incident. He said that the vehicle used by the suicide bomber was loaded with 60 kilogram explosive material, which has been defused successfully.
The police chief said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is in a state of war and appreciated the maturity exhibited by the media in this situation.
He said the moral of police is high and he himself is visiting bordering posts with tribal areas to further motivate their moral. However, he said the character and role of few is resulting in their defamation, whose expulsion is necessary for the whole force. He said that 117 personnel have been dismissed from the police so far while investigation against some is still in progress.
