KP plans country’s largest anti-hepatitis drive

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch the country’s largest hepatitis awareness campaign in the next phase of ‘Sehat Ka Insaf’ programme.

Besides officials of the heath and other government departments, more than 12,500 Insaf volunteers will also participate in the campaign for distribution of the anti-hepatitis awareness materials by going from door to door, said a handout issued here on Tuesday.

During the campaign, according to the handout, besides vaccinating the leftover babies against nine fatal diseases, 400,000 detergents and health kits will be distributed among the people for which resources have been arranged.

The information was shared with participants of a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Peshawar.

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak chaired the meeting, where PTI secretary general Jehangir Khan Tareen was a special guest.

The meeting decided to ensure the maximum participation of women to make the awareness campaign a success.

It called for activating the women’s wing of PTI and women teachers for the purpose.

Addressing the participants, the chief minister said the provincial government had announced health emergency in the province because of the substandard health facilities and deteriorating health of the people, and as such, all segments of the society needed to fully participate in the campaign.

He announced to launch a motivation campaign through the PTI leaders and convene their meetings for the purpose.

Mr Khattak said ensuring the health of the public, especially those of women and children at home, developing hygienic habits in them and preventing deceases were the need of the hour.

“Realising the dream of a healthy society is a must to ensure that the limited financial resources and energies of the poor people are not wasted on the treatment of diseases,” he said.

The chief minister directed the relevant authorities to carry out the ‘Sehat Ka Insaf’ programme in the remaining settled areas adjacent to FRs on separate days and launch hygiene and sanitation campaign in five union councils per week.

He directed the provincial ministers and MPAs to closely monitor the campaign, check the sanitation in various union councils and take actions against sanitation workers over poor performance.

Mr Khattak issued directions for holding free medical camps for five consecutive days in the union councils lacking sufficient health facilities, and to provide free medical treatment and medicines to the visiting patients.

Mr Tareen appreciated the ‘Sehat Ka Insaf’ programme and stressed the need to further improve and make it a success story in all respects.

He acknowledged that he was really impressed by the programme and desired to replicate the same in other provinces including Punjab as well.

Mr Tareen said the people from Karachi and Lahore were visiting Peshawar to analyse the programme, which was a historical achievement of the provincial government.

NO BLAST IN CM HOUSE: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday contradicted reports about a blast and the summoning of bomb disposal squad at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar.

In a handout, the spokesman said officials of the works department were repairing a faulty geyser when a ‘loud echo’ took place.

He said not even a minor damage to human life occurred.

Political parties dont pool in money for any project. All projects by all govts (center/provincial level) of any party pump in money either from national kitty or from international donation

On the other hand Sindh is struggling to replicate Sehat ka insaf, mismanagement and corruption is abundant there. Good job by KP govt.

Are you a Tax Payer? If so, do you raise similar concerns about PML, or PPP, or ANP naming projects as they wanted?

If you are only targeting PTI then you are a hypocrite.

If you raise concerns about ALL parties indulging in this practice, then I hope you see that doing so changed nothing. You are acting in vain.

However you look at it, you are wasting your and other people's time. Better start your own political party and call it 'The Nameless Party'. I am sure you would be guaranteed ONE vote - your own.
