Korean naval ships visit HCM City

(VOV) -Two Republic of Korea naval ships, the Choi Young and Roks Cheon Ji, led by Rear Admiral Chun Jung Soo docked at Ho Chi Minh City port on December 3, beginning a four-day visit to Vietnam.
During the visit, the 30 soldiers and 331 sailors aboard the vessels will pay a courtesy visit toleaders of the municipal People’s Committee and visit the Commands of Military Zone 7 and Navy Zone 2.

In addition, they are to play a friendly volleyball match with staff and students of the Naval Technical School and visit some tourist sites in the city.

1 x Gwanggaeto the Great-class destroyer : DDH-974
1 x Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin class destroyer : DDH-981

Both has strong antisub ability and air defense.

The South Korean Navy is scheduled to donate a warship to the Philippine Navy in a move to improve the defense capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), considered as one of the weakest military in the Asian region.



South Korea’s Pohang-Class Corvette

The donation of Seoul, South Korea was confirmed by South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwang-jin during the visit of the Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin to South Korea last May 30, 2014.
