A Korean group has shown interest to install a hundred megawatt solar power plant near Karachi to resolve the issue of electricity especially in the metropolitan.

Official sources told our Karachi correspondent Javed Samejo that the plant will be based on Built Operate and Transfer basis.

After installation of the plant, it will meet hundred megawatt power shortages of Karachi and its sounding areas.

It is expandable upto two hundred and fifty megawatt. It is a new technique which will provide uninterrupted energy by solar system.

. . .
Under current political setup it is unimaginable to expect any project approved without corruption.
Exactly. There will be corruption. However, that doesn't mean it won't go through.

More than anything else, Pakistan needs to resolve its energy issues. It's a major reason for the lack of investment in the country, despite its growing economy.

.
100MW per what? hour? day?
This is the real information we need.

It depends on the level of corruption on papers thousands of MWs should have been added but the deficit has become even worse and the reason is that the extreme corruption Nandipur is just one example.

I guess you're right. But the deficit has gotten worse also because of rapidly increasing demand. The problem is that everytime Pakistan expands capacity at a power plant, demand grows too.

The funny thing is that Pak's existing installed capacity is still more than demand...but the corruption and incompetency are the reasons for the current shortfall in power..nothing else

100 mw per hour or 100,000 kwh . Actually it is a name plate capacity.

Efficiency/plant factor is around 16-18% as sun does not shine 24/7 so depending upon area actual production is 16-19 mwh.

Canada and Kuwait are interested to place Solar power Plant in Quetta and Balochistan and Korean showing interest in Karachi let see which interest get materialized

.
it's always per year, unless specific info is written
MW is a unit of power and not energy...so it is not time bound rather it is the amount of energy delivered per unit time

1 Watt = Joules / second

Whereas to calculate the energy units delivered in a year KW-H / yr (kilo watt hours / year) or MW-h /year is used
