I fully understand, and please don't get me wrong. As a child you wouldn't have known the origin or context of the song, and of course hearing it over the car radio with your father brings back happy memories.I was 8 when I heard this song with my father in his Suzuki FX.
Do you think at that time I knew if this song is Indian or not. He often sings it and I posted it here.
Ghalti ho gai bhai.
Appreciating or liking any kind of music is an entirely personal matter. I personally like Indian Bengali secular revolutionary songs and music, even though I don't understand all the words.
There is nothing wrong with the song itself. It is merely one of the "million" Hindi songs churned out by the cine industry over there
It is the reference that counts.
The earlier generations on both sides of the India Pakistan borders
tended to see the world with optimism and unbiased humanity.,
It was always " Our culture is so similar. This music is beautiful...We are the same people.. why can't we get along "
As time has passed we now know the world is different.
Of course the music by itself is beautiful but let's put the past behind us . The past may have been serene and beautiful, the present. is ugly and violent and the future very dark.
