KIA official website shows 4 cars likely to be launched in Pakistan


The main KIA website page currently shows four vehicles, three passengers and one commercial:

• Picanto
• Sportage
• Carnival

1. The two cars launched are CBU imports that are priced according to zero custom duty under the greenfield investment plan in AIDP 2016. Only 100 units of each model will be allowed to be imported duty free for test marketing.

2. KIA-Lucky plant is currently under construction in Karachi and will start rolling out cars by end of 2019. CKD variants will include Sportage, Rio & maybe Picanto. CKD kits will not be imported from India, nor is PK market an export destination for Indian manufactured cars.

What is the KIA Car production capacity from Karachi and target of local sales?In India the plant will ready by 2019 with production capacity up to 300,000 cars with more than 1 billion dollar investment.Is the construction of pakistan plant starts?

Lets hope its Not Kia Motors, India which will export it in future . It has started its manufacturing in A.P. by investing a billion dollars.

In pakistan there is no choice other than to stick old model cars or go for expensive imports !

My Friend Great business prospects offered but Kia is all valued and 100% utilized becuase of CPEC project and will benefit where trade can be linked to Korea via China. Volvo, BMW, and VW also coming soon and Benz launching their Truck assembly plant because of demands in CPEC. otherwise, Car manufacturing/ assembling plant in Pakistan is not a profit-making in current Pakistan's economic condition. I hope India and Pakistan settle the Kashmir issue by talk and offer an invitation to India to join the CPEC project happily and fight jointly against poverty and illiteracy.

Ford USA, Hyundai S.Korea uses Indian assembly for cost arbitrage, cheap labor, cost cutting, tax and tariff exemptions, land and utilities are provided by the Indian states say Hyundai plant near Chennai at a very low land price compared to S.Korea and similarly Ford USA getting the same benefits as other foreign players.

The OEM's are also foreign companies moving their production to third world countries like Mexico, Thailand and India...It is called globalization. Most of the export invoices and inventories goes to the principal like Ford and Hyundai here in USA and S.Korea...and India gets the jobs and some export rebates. Why the inventory shows cars made by Hyundai all over the world be in Thailand, Mexico and India as in total production of vehicles by the principal.

They are not Indian cars, nor India can take the credit for it.

We need good car under a 1 million price tag... that's a huge segment.
At Rs 4 million an 11-seater will squarely aimed at either very large families or transporters i.e. APV section. But for a family it may not be so useful since it will stayed parked most of the time..
We had a Toyota Hiace High Roof version for the family travels but for the most part of the year, it stay parked so we sold it.

Exactly, Pakistani family lifestyle is not such that a family, even it can afford one, will buy this minivan.
