Looks like some people's wishes may be coming true - "Golapi ekhone bed-e".

Or is it another "sympathy ploy" by BNP, a la Mamata "leg-in-a-cast" situation?

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who recently tested positive for Covid-19, was on her way to a hospital in the capital to get a CT scan.

She was being taken to Evercare Hospital, FM Siddiqi, head of her personal medical team told reporters after visiting the BNP chief at her Gulshan residence today.

Based on the report, doctors attending the former prime minister will decide whether Khaleda will be admitted to hospital, he said.

"She is entering the second week today after being tested for Covid-19," he said.

Khaleda Zia's sample was collected on April 9 and the report came back positive for Covid-19 the following day.

"As I said before, there is a difference between the first and second weeks after being infected with Covid-19. The complications usually come in the second week. That's why we want to be a little more careful," he said.

About Khaleda's physical condition, FM Siddiqi said, "She is fine. Only the CT scan has not been done. We decided to get the CT scan done in very short time. Besides, she is quite well in all other aspects like biochemical parameters, physical status, oxygen saturation, appetite, pulse and blood circulation."

"You can never predict the condition a patient infected with Covid-19 in advance. It is a very rapidly changing disease. However, we will do a CT scan very soon."

Asked whether Khaleda will be admitted to hospital, he said: "After going through the CT scan report, if we think that it would be better for her to be treated at home, we will keep her at home. And if we think she needs to remain in observation in hospital for one or two days, we will admit her to the hospital. Our decision will depend on the CT scan report."

Dr Siddiqi also said the new symptom Khaleda Zia is exhibiting is a mild fever.

Explaining Khaleda's present condition, he said, as her chest is clear, they think her condition is stable and she is fine.
Dr Siddiqi also said her blood sugar is now under control.

"We are monitoring blood sugar three times a day. Accordingly, we are controlling her blood sugar with tablets and insulin. She is undergoing physiotherapy for arthritis and all the necessary treatments."

"Her mental condition is fine as she remains pretty stable mentally. She is quite okay."

Dr Siddiqi said they are also keeping in touch with Khaleda Zia's daughter-in-law Dr Zobaida Rahman, who has been staying in London since 2008 with her husband Tarique Rahman, and specialist doctors in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Khaleda Zia tested positive for Covid-19 on April 10.

I saw a picture of her surrounded by doctors, nurses and hospital personnel the other day, rushing her on as she's seated in a wheel chair.. spat in disgust..

This is why our country doesn't go forward, some hot shot politician gets infected and now the administration is in a bind, big hartals will be called If they leave any thing to be desired when it comes to khaleda's treatment and yet nobody bats an eye when normal layman folk die of covid.

We're second class citizens, the whole lot of us, unless we're politicians of course, influencial ones at that and not necessarily the ones in power..

Heck, even saw many showbiz personalities & artists get such VIP care, all the cost of public tax payer money, Andrew Kishore comes to mind.. I have nothing against him but this country & the government's priorities are just beyond ridiculous.

Let me tell you guys a story about the Ruling elite of BD.

Everyone probably knows about S.Alam group right? The two brothers who own the company got Covid in the early stages of the pandemic.
After they were hospitalised
they couldn't find enough ventilators for both of the brothers ,so they had to timeshare with one ventilator.

With their financial capability they could have easily bought or built dozens of hospitals in Bangladesh but alas , they stashed most of their money overseas in US and Europe like all the thieves. They didn't contribute to their own country. They passed away

What's the point of having all this wealth and power if your countrymen suffer? Billion of $ stashed in foreign banks (black money , not paying taxes etc etc). Only a fraction of this could have been spent on employing ppl and would improve our society.

If Bangladesh is to go anywhere, and this will sound harsh because that's what it takes to change the fate of a country of 170 million, a lot of undesirable people who are unwilling to let go of their cut throat lifestyles must perish.

Whether we weed them out one at a time or deal with them en masse is up for debate...

Education alone will not work, those perpetuating this cycle of looting must be , simply put, Vanquished... It's for the greater good.

A purge of epic proportions. A well meaning one and no I'm not insane, I am merely looking out for the 99% and not the 1%.

It doesn't have to be violent, just imprison them, work them like you would prisoners and the hardships they forced onto others will do them in.

Step #1 is doing away with democracy and familiarising our public with authoritarianism, most preferably in the form of benevolent dictatorship.

Also, just realised this kind of post is what gets you sued under DSA 😳

Wrong approach. Never ask for dictatorship. A dictator being a benevolent one is a rare occurrence and even if you get one he won't live forever. After him only the dictatorship will remain, benevolence will be gone.

If she is getting a CT, it is plausible that she might is developing COVID-19 pneumonia. Hope she regains her health soon!
