Key to Bangladesh's Economic Success: Development Over Democracy!

All dams that you have today is because of ayub. So jo karay wo bhi ghalat jo na karay wo bhi ghalat
all dams are you sure sir ? paksitan have some 200 dams . these talks should stop now gov projects are not ahsan no nation . ab is mentality se bahir nikal ayee . kabhi suna USA main koi kahy hoover dam bana ker ahsan kiya qaum per US president ne ?

and the gifts they give was destroyed the country next 10 years too . ayoubs gift was 1965/71
zia's gift was afghanis heroin terrorism and gun culture
mushraf left us with gift WOT /TTP / bla bra

dictatorship is worse thing for multi cultural country . we are not BD we are mixture of 6 countries . every province have own culture language dreams and way of life . yes dictatorship work in punjab alone if SSmake head and he rule 20 years may be punjab overpass BD . if dictatorship went in sindh it will be remain dirt poor in blochistan may be it work may be not on kpk there will be civil war . not sure about kashmir and GB . GB is doing great BTW .

Look I get what you are saying, but the basic problem is that our people are idiots, what have no understanding or patience

In the Quran it says a people deserve the leaders they get, and what we have is dross because we are corrupt as a people

So our fundamental reality is that we are a underperforming state with incredible potential, a economy waiting to take off and expand with a 220 million population

but we haven't

And we haven't because of poor economic policy, corruption and parties/politicians who fail to understand the massive policy change required

That places pressure on our elected government to produce results in the time.of.covid with no one willing to understand or give time for economic reforms to take place, with the same old corrupt parties waiting in the wings who created the problems on the first place

Our people are democratically immature and don't understand that their choice matter's, so unlike functional democracies we don't GET A CHOICE, we get passed back and forth amongst the same parties and same faces

Nawaz>>>>>Zardari>>>>>>>Nawaz>>>>>>>Billo>>>>>>Maryam

Rinse and repeat the same corrupt dynasties

And our people CHOOSE to willingly go along with it giving unending loyalty and serfdom

With such a population we need to almost force change and reform upon the system removing the risk of stupidity from the people

. .
It is more like biggest inflows of foreign largess happened during those periods

Still better and have achieved FAR MORE than the country were 4 million people recently died of coronavirus, 732 million defecate in the open and where 40% of the ENTIRE earth's most severely malnourished and extreme poor live...... :azn::

you can create 2000 dams and generate 1MW or create 1 dam and generate 2000MW.

Lol this was perfect if Punjab, Kashmir, gb got under competent dictatorship it'll easily be 20k plus per Capita (only thing lacking is port connection)
Sindh is tailormade for dictatorship, they gave us our first civillian dictator but unfortunately PPP dictatorship wasn't very competent under competent dictatorship they can get better- have cultural characteristics for it
Both KP and Balochistan will erupt in civil war if a dictatorship was ever imposed
Balochistan will erupt because some tribal leader would get into beef with another and his kin will start a rebellion
KP because they're a democratic/equalatrian society, won't like a dictator

Western Pakistan, religious crowd stops us from any tilt towards genuine dictatorship (I am saying genuine because even our dictatorship periods were so soft/democratic compared to dictatorship in rest of the world)

yes lets see then

tarbela dam was not build for power generation in 1974 gov decides to install power generation on it
mangla was planned 300mw till 1969 letter govs instilled extensions and generators
warsik dam 243 mw
hub dam creates 0.5mw
simly dam 0mw
rawal dam 0mw
khan pur dam was started 1979 not 1969 and its creates 0mn power

while you claim all of dams and electricity . here we have total 10132MW power generation today while ayoubs shear is only 550mw in it .

I've got to agree with OP, I'm a believer in democracy but it doesn't work in a 3rd world society where votes are cheap.

And where populism, provincialism and identity politics far outweigh policy. Democratic leaders in the 3rd world have to choose between what's right and what's popular - and our popular sentiments are idiotic.

Poor people have voted in the same people who robbed them blind, intimidated and bullied then for years.

I doubt a democratic party in BD would've provided social care to disabled people, an educational stipend to girls or gone after mullahs in BD because these things don't get you votes.

Modi is copying Bangladesh Hasina's policy. While Hasina is doing what China was doing in past decades.
Yup, you hit the nail on the head.
However, corruption is present everywhere , and you get away with graft if you are connected with the ruling AL.

Yes you're right but it's not a new occurence, remember that Mahathir was called a dictator too but he set the ground for a better democracy in Malaysia today.

I think once people are better educated, financially better off they make better voting decisions.

Mahathir is not a dictator, but at those years, UMNO, a Malay political party has full support of Malay voters while after the year 2000, Malay ethnic voters are divided into several parties and it makes competition between parties get stronger and produce weaker government than during Mahathir period.

Parliamentary system is famous as making many weak government if there is no strong political party in the system, take a look on Today politics in Israel, Malaysia, and Britain for example.
