Statistics show that the per capita liquor consumption of the state (8.3 litres) is equal to that of the Unites States of America and higher than that of Poland (8.1 litres) and Italy (8 litres).Kerala tops the list of states with highest rate of per capita consumption of alcohol. Punjab with 7.9 litres takes the second place.

After Punjabis drinking nearly 29 crore bottles of Punjab made liquor (PML), Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) and beer in the year 2009-2010, the state having about 2.75 crore people (2.43 crore population as per 2001 census), now they are set to achieve the target of drinking 30.60 crore bottles of PML, IMFL and beer in the financial year 2010-2011.

Well the size of population may play some role but we will get you in Per capita consumpation

Beer should be removed from the alcohol list.

Beer is not really appreciated by the older generation

What beer ? Malayalis dont drink "beer". We drink the strong stuff......In-fact, i don't think malayalis ( in general ) know much about beer brands..with the sole exception being kingfisher, of-course.
