Kenya to buy Patrol ship from Pakistan

Kenya has ordered a patrol boat from a Bangladesh yard, Western Marine.

This is one of the hull modules of that boat - the image is about nine months old...hull has been completed late last year.

THE 100% COMPLETION OF HULL OF THE OFFSHORE PATROL VESSEL.

November 29, 2015 : A delegation from Kenyan Department of Fisheries headed by their Director Administration Mr. Harun Rashid Khator visited the shipyard on 29 Nov 2015 to witness the 100% completion of hull of the Offshore Patrol Vessel that Western Marine Shipyard Limited is building for Kenyan Department of Fisheries. The shipyard expects to deliver the ship by the end of 2016.

Type of Ship: Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV).
Customer: Kenyan Ministry of Fisheries, Livestock & Agriculture.
Units : 01.

Principal Dimension:

Length OA: 54.7
Length BP: 50.90m
Depth: 4.50m
Service speed: 35knots

Crew: 12
Passenger: 60

As I recall - the vessel uses two prop-diesel engines flanked by a central waterjet (also diesel-driven I believe) to achieve 35 knots. That's not hellish fast but fast enough for an OPV.
