Kaveri engine to power fifth generation fighter aircraft

.
its fine then bt if it is medium size then its internal bay at max will carry 2BVR.you mean something like the f-117..

Not 2 BVR, but at least 4 BVR. It can also be up to 6 missiles (4BVR + 2 WVR), it all depends on how the aircraft is designed. Current design can easily store up to 4 BVR missiles.

Alright but with Snecma kicking in with their technology, how much of the engine will actually remain indegenous?

How much of it currently is?

.
I read somewhere its stated to be between 22 -25 T class Or say equal to eurofighter MTOW 23.5T,then 95KN KAVERI HYBRID WILL BE WAY WAY BETTER FOR AMCA...

. .
@ignited mind...... that really good question , can any one reply

which engine we are using on our trainer jets, can we use this one?

Engines are very complex technology, we were not able to do it by yourself. So went to the french who has expertise in it to rectify the teething problems..

We are using an engine of 1990s(i mean the engine which should be developed between 1990-2010) in the fighter of future ?/
I really hope DRDO has upgraded their requirements in Kaveri project since now this engine is not to power a replacement of MIG21 but it will power a 5th gen fighter...

Well all the engines used today are developed during that period....including the EJ 200 and the GE 414.

Is that an excuse?

If we had to bring in foreign companies at the end of the day then what's the point of this program anyways?

It's a different case if we are buying their technology though but if we are just leasing it, then that makes no sense.

Actually F-22, PakFa, J-20 are all heavy fighters. But AMCA would be a medium weight fighter, the size of Mig 29.
For a fighter of this size, 2 90-95 KN engines are good enough, even for super cruise. As said in the article, Kaveri will be around that number when it is installed on AMCA.

Honestly, that has to be seen!

For example the EF has an empty weight of 11t and 2 x 90kN AB thrust which gives it a great TWR. Now AMCA is planed in the same class, with similar thrust, but with internal weapon bays and internal fuel, the weight will increase dramatically as well. The advantage on the other hand is the low drag, because no external loads, but then look at F35 again:

- medium class
- emptyweight 13+t
- internal fuel over 8t
- 1 engine with 190kN AB thrust
- VMAX around Mach 1.6
- TWR (with full internal fuel, no weapons) 0.89
- not SC capable

The AMCA specs could look pretty similar with that thrust, which makes a good TWR, manouverability, or SC doubtful don't you think?

There are a few things that you overlooked. Let me try to explain.

1. you said that the weight will increase, it will not, the empty weight of both the aircraft is 11 tons. The empty weight of AMCA would be inclusive of the internal weapons bay.

2. F-35 has a MTOW of 31+ tons, whereas the MTOW of MCA would be close to 24 tons. That's 30% less weight. It doesn't matter how much of it is fuel or weapons, in the end its all weight.

3. The F-35 has a total thrust of 196 KN with 31 tons of MTOW, whereas the AMCA would have a total thrust of 190 KN with just 24 tons of MTOW. So that means the T/W ratio of AMCA would be way better than F-35.

4. The F-35 is a bulky aircraft, its not aerodynamic by any means, which is the reason it can not super cruise. The AMCA model though not very aerodynamic, is actually more aerodynamic when compared to F-35.

So all of it suggests that AMCA would be more maneuverable than the F-35. I can not for certain say for the supercruising ability though, because we will need a dry thrust of around 65+ KN for super cruising. Anything less won't help in super cruising.

If the requirements continue to shift. The project will never complete. Even if DRDO develop an engine to power Mig 21 size aircraft, let them complete it and use that experience to develop a 5th generation craft from scratch.

.
JAGI JI and SANCHO JI add two more thing -what if AMCA gonna be twin seater ??? with heavy RAM coating ,its further increase the weight ...so i think 95KN is enough even for slight increase say 23.5 to 25 T MTOW...

Its not leasing, just partnering it..

What else will you do? after developing something for years and hit the end of the tunnel?
