. . . .
Why UN wants to meddle in internal matters of world's largest democracy ? Can UN lecture world's largest democracy about Human rights ?

Yes.

Please explain this to your politicians and army. We have been saying this since long.

Pakistani-American.... But it doesn't excuse the right of self-determination. Gujarat, Hyderabad, Kashmir, and Goa(to a lesser extend) are all war trophies.

Gujarat, Hyderabad, and Kashmir has princes more concerned with their power than the future of their people. The rulers wanted to join Pakistan, be independent, or join India to keep power.

My view is just have an election in Kashmir, both sides, and make the options Independence, Join Pakistan/India, with a HEAVY presence of international observers.

Ahan. Not possible. When 4 wars couldn't do it , a Pakiatani sponsored insurgency cannot & will not.UNHCR can't whine about it , write about it even crusade. It's not going to happen.

Btw - nice to see you're alive & kicking @RiazHaq .

I've been following your posts on various fora for nearly 10 years .What boundless energy , what single minded dedication to show up India in any sphere / every sphere .While many of your compatriots share these traits , I've yet to come across anyone who's been at it for this long .I've read a piece somewhere which says you've been doing it since the late 70's & 80's .Is it true ? If so , wish your legacy inspires many more of your compatriots to emulate you .You see that will prompt people from the other side of the border to reciprocate ,thus bringing the unfinished business of partition closer to a solution .One way or another .Great going once more. You can truly claim to have found your calling in life when your meet your Maker.Your hope in kindling & keeping the fire of hate burning bright is truly inspirational.May your tribe increase .

The past 3 wars, Kargil, proxies, and border skirmishes didn't have social media.

Just banning international media and journalists from Jammu Kashmir, arresting leaders, and curfews, will not put down revolts now.

.
If you care so much about what the international community says, how about letting UN Human Rights Team in to see it for themselves? What are you hiding?

b4 that did u allow the same team to visit Baluchistan ??? dont say its not in dispute one, human rights can happen any where. you dont pak be a example to India in this? can pak get a seat in UNHRC ? i hope not yet.. any improvement ???

At the end of the day , It's 6-7 million Kashmiris we're talking about.Weigh that against a population of 1.25 billion. Also factor in the armed forces , paramilitary & the state machinery .That & an economy of 2.5 trillion USD & growing.Plus the fact that none of the influential players around the world has a stomach for another Islamic "freedom struggle".

So much so , that all attempts by the EU to take on Netanyahu & his policies of increasing the settlements in the occupied territories have effectively taken a back seat. Now ,if the cause celebre of the Islamic World is nowhere on the radar of the established powers around the world , what hope does an uprising in Kashmir inspire ?
It'd give you a good idea what this insurgency is up against .

The only way this will succeed is if Pakistan were to mount another Operation Gibraltar followed by an Operation Grand Slam.Tell me honestly , do you see any chance of that ?

It's cold calculations. That's what geopolitics is all about.

. .
The population of India is irrelevant. The wishes of Kashmir are, just continuously putting down protests isnt going to solve the problem.

The population of both - the protagonists & antagonists ( depending on the PoV you hold ) are extremely important apart from geography & other parameters discussed in my post above .

The protests itself aren't solving anything .It's going to be status quo in sometime .

I can elaborate on why this & future insurgencies in Kashmir will fail .But we'd enter a circular discussion .Suffice to say , that the objective of the Indian state is to wear down the obscrutantist element in the the body politic of Kashmir .So far both ( the extremists & the Indian state ) have proved resilient & incapable of any positive developments .Hence status quo .Unless something drastic happens .Like Pakistan invading .
