Riot control in India is pretty primitive in nature. They simply have cane shield , wooden lathis and third rate pads to protect limbs. Modern technology needs to be used to control the mob. Forces have to be more canny and resource full in dealing with areas where such things happen. Cut the power supply,water supply and dump garbage in these areas. Find the instigators and deal with them instead of entire. The issue is j&k govt plays vote bank politics by molly coddling with the separatists. mehbooba mufti before coming to power was more or less aligned with separatists. Now she seems to realize error of her ways.

A firm and consistent policy towards trouble makers will go a long way in cutting down public disturbance. Only good thing out of these riots is that mehbooba's dalliance with separatists got severe beating.
