What's new

Kargil War hero's book narrates how Indian Army surpised the enemy and won

So does India... but now this makes me wonder... all those Pakistani soldiers were killed for what...So that Musharraf Could have some fun.
wrong again.

Pakistani supply routes are far away in the rear. Pakistani posts are in range of Indian weapons but thats everywhere on the border.

Even then... Pakistani operation failed... as the objective was not met and Pakistani forces had to retrieve.

.
For argument sake lets say India lost. But how come losing ground & getting evicted from occupied peaks count as win? This is weird logic. Just fighting India seems to be considered as a victory by pakistan.

Pakistan anticipated India would cross the border and widen the conflict but that did not happen.
Pakistan did not anticipate Indias airstrikes , it is one of he stupidest military planning where you occupy enemy territory but dont expect the enemy to retaliate. It was the same in 1965 when they attacked kashmir but did not expect counter attack in punjab. Very dim witted military planning at the best.

Its Indian loss, since there is no instrument of surrender.

.
A question that no Pakistani wants to answer:

Objective: Take control of key heights in Kashmir overlooking key Roads used by India army.

Was this achieved by Pakistan.....

Answer :NO

Pakistan Lost.

Do the Indians ever see or intend to see the full version of the outcome..... i guess NOT.

This from your own source.

Answer my question: Did Pakistan achieve its objective of capturing positions previously held by India?

The answer is NO... Pakistan could not achieve what it set out to achieve....Short Pakistan lost the war.

I concede what you said above

Is the question wrong?

India would have lost ...if Pakistan would have won and captured any of the Indian posts.. Pakistan could not capture any of the Indian posts...and had to withdraw ... Now tell me, who withdraws ..the one who lost the war ... so who lost the war..

Pakistan was fighting in stealth mode with Light weaponry..... other side is equipped with heavy machinery along with support of Air Force..... moreover you people have International Support on your side, our timing was also wrong

We all know the fate of every Kargil thread.........

For some : It was an absolute victory, but NS screwed it
For some : It was a victory because PA still hold 1 peak
For some : It was brilliant plan but poorly executed by mushraff
For some : It was a Political and Military blunder by an over ambitious over confident COAS
For some : It was embarrassment for Indian intelligence agencies and final victory for IA in the end.
For some : It was a victory over over ambitious enemy
For some : It was a victory for airforce since few IAF planes/choppers where shot down.
For some : It was a diplomatic victory for GoI and military victory for India
For some : It was back stabbing by Pakistan immediately after spectacle peace effort by both nations
For some : It was an unnecessary war fought by 2 nuclear countries

You can select what ever suits your thoughts and beliefs and be happy. Let the moderator close down the thread before it becomes a troll fest.
That is what I really think and agree on.

Wrong again

Indian forces are forced to man the posts round the year due to kargil war
That means we lost Siachen war as well...because we have to man the posts there as well....also we man our posts on IB as well...

This is the classic Pakistani way of looking at conflicts :disagree:....look a war is not fought in silos...the other side will fight with all that it has...just because you were fighting will light weaponry it doesn't mean we will stick to it...and there will always be international pressure, be it any conflict!...that aspect always have to be looked upon...

US troops have killed 100 times more taliban fighters than what they have lost...that doesn't mean they are winning in AF...why?? bcoz they are loosing the objective...

Clearly you have no idea about rotation of IA during seasons.

Can you throw some light on this?? Had this been anticipation then Mushy should be publicly hanged...in fact mushy was surprised at the amount of weaponry India used in Kargil alone leave aside widening the conflict...
In Pakistan Kargil was done in very secretly...IAF was not involved, navy had no clue and if we go by reports then apart from gang of four no body was taken into confidence and here you are claiming they were anticipating India to widen the conflict??

Kargil was most probably an ego battle than Mushy might have after he lost various attempts to capture Siachen because apart from that i honestly don't see any sense in why Kargil was done...though i am happy to learn from some knowledgeable member here....

That's precisely what Christine Fair says in her research over the psychology of Pakistani Army and country.

That they have blind/ideological hatred towards Hindus. And the act of fighting India and simply surviving is considered victory in Pakistan. So whichever way you cut it , Pakistanis are brainwashed into thinking they won and supporting the Pakistani Army.

Its a very effective tool used by Pakistani Army so that despite their consistent losses against India in every war -from major wars to scramble wars like Siachen - they have fought, they can still get Pakistanis to blindly support the dominance of Pakistani Army over Pakistan as a country.

In any case, a statement rings true - a wise Pakistani once said:

The only significant piece of territory that the Pakistani Army was able to capture during the Kargil war was .... the President of Pakistan's House in Islamabad.
