Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works gets further funding for equipment, modernisation

KSEW is being expanded and be made ready for construction of Subs and some surface platforms.
The new SLTS is specially being installed for the subs.
The KSEW has changed remarkably in the last 10 years from a worn out yard to a pretty decent shipyard.
Construction of further platforms will enhance professionalism.

The Coast Guard vessel has not been finalized. (Not on priority)
Sub Contract signed (8 Yuan Class).
The main reason for extension of KSEW is to facilitate sub construction.

Let the Navy do their Job Bro, with whatever resources they are given.

We cannot compete with the enemy quantitively, because we don't have the luxury to spend $billions at our disposal.

The threat posed by a couple of AIP subs is far more than a dozen Surface vessels.

PN is not about power projection, its about denying the enemy free acess to our area of interest and however we achieve it is more important.

This new extension seems to be getting ready for bigger ships in near future contract.

2 of what a year? Frigates? Subs? Destroyers? Patrol boats? We can all want this and that, but if we cant afford to pay for it it all dreams. I'll be glad to see the PN get new equip but where is the money comming from?

bro, we have no other option but to trust navy when it comes to securing our Waters ..

my concern was that we operate 3 AIP subs , and now we signed a Contract of 8 more ..
which will take around 8-10 years ( minimum ) , why not we reduce the Sub numbers to 4-6 , and rest of the funds can go for upgraded F-22P's or Type 54A's ..

IN has the Potent Naval Air Arm , against that we have nothing .. not even a Heavy Destroyer that can tackle with IN's Air fleet , AWACS and Pi8's , they can hunt our subs easily ..

Dont you think our Surface vessels will be venerable to enemy Flanker ?

Tuo Chiang of taiwan,how heavily she is loaded,less number of persons but more number of missiles,yes less air defence capability but a stong missile striker boat,we can compare it with our F22p and azmat class,non of it have this much weapon power.16 anti ship missiles and the best thing is perfect design and spot,for fire and reload.Pakistan navy should consider this design for Azmat class next series,there are other countries also made good things then china or atleast learn by pictures.Azmat and
Tuo Chiang are almost same weights but big difference in Fire Power.

We don't need 11 AIP equipped subs to keep IN at bay, as many Senior members state, 5-6 AIP modern subs are enough to panic any Navy .. but we need to have strong surface vessels too .. get heavy Destroyer with Separate Air and Coastal defense batteries ... Type 54A's can be our Upgraded F-22p's .. but at least signed a deal or do something .. after years of negotiations we buy 8 Subs , and we still have no idea when first will enter service with PN ..will they be modern than our Augasta 90b's , will they carry CM's like babur or Chinese variants .. nothing is clear

Navies aren't built in a day. Shipbuilding is a lengthy process. We can at least agree that Pakistan Navy is on the right path.

Terrorism is significantly decreasing and so is our spending to fight it, leading to having left overs in defense budget. Also due to the fact around 1 billion is added the defense budget every year due to inflation and increasing GDP growth rate. We grew from 240 to 271 leaving more funds to be allocated to the military. Currently we dont need to allocate money budget for growth as Chinese and other foreign investments have taken care of that.

Agreed, we need coastal batteries - our navy must at least be capable enough to defend our navy - well placed coastal batteries supported by an Air Squadron can be a very deadly tool
