Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers who were involved in carrying out house robberies in several localities of Karachi.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Azfar Mahesar at a press conference said three robbers from the six-member "Afghan gang" were arrested with the help of technology and police teams have been formed to apprehend the three others.
He said members of the gang had entered a citizen's house within the jurisdiction of the Ferozabad police station on January 12. After receiving information, police rushed to the site but the suspects managed to flee the scene, leaving behind a car.
Following this, a team comprising Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ferozabad Tariq Nawaz and Station House Officer (SHO) Ferozabad Aurangzeb Khattak used data of the seized vehicle and CCTV footage to trace the three suspects with the help of modern technology.

The suspects were identified as Samiullah, Abdul Manan and Juma Khan.
According to the police officer, the group used mobile SIMs from Afghanistan to communicate with each other.
He said they used rental cars for the robberies, during which they used to scale the boundary walls of houses, take residents hostage on gunpoint, and loot cash, gold and other valuables from them.
Police claimed to have recovered gold jewellery worth Rs500,000, valuable watches and other items from the suspects.
During an initial probe, the suspects "confessed" to committing house robberies in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Ferozabad, Bahadurabad, Aziz Bhatti and New Town areas of the metropolis.
