Karachi: Above 15 injured in Imam Bargah blast
KARACHI: A bomb blast targeting mourners at an Imam Bargah Sunday killed two people and injured more than 16 here in Karachi's Abbas Town, Geo News reported.

A Moharram-ul-Haram congregation was underway in the Imam Bargah Mustapha by the time the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated.

The power supply to the area located on Abul Hassan Asfahani Road was also suspended as many electricity poles and wires broke down after the blast.

Source said the IED was fitted inside a motorcycle parked outside a closed milk shop near Imam Bargah. The shop was completely destroyed in the blast.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion shattered the windowpanes of the nearby buildings

Rescue services have reached the blast site and the injured were being given first aid.

The critically injured were being rushed to the nearby hospitals which include Patel Hospital, Abbasi Shaheed, Agha Khan, and Liaquat National.

Arrangements have been made in Jinnah and Civil Hospital for the incoming victims.

Yes agree with somebozo. First we are Pakistani's then we are muslims and then sunnis or shias because if we don't have pakistan we will not be to practice our belives. But it is not fair to target one sect particularly.

People should be left alone with whatever belief they have. We live in a civil state and the benefit of Pakistani's lies in the well being of Pakistan. With corrupt foreign ideologies what we have Pakistani targeting fellow Pakistani's in the name of ideologies - much similar to Nazi Germany. And we will slip into similar abyss if the situation is not bought under control fast.

Attack on Imambargah not sectarian, third force responsible: Malik

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Monday that Sunday night’s blast near an Imambargah in the Abbas Town neighbourhood of Karachi was not a sectarian attack and blamed a “third force” force the incident, Express News reported.

A bomb planted on a motorcycle parked at a dairy shop near the Imambargah, went off and killed three people and injured over a dozen.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Malik said that he will continue to work to curb terrorism despite the criticism he received against blocking cellular services and motorcycle riding in the past.

The interior minister said that the bans were placed because of the information he had received regarding terror bids in Karachi and Quetta.

He added that the government has given a “free hand” to the security agencies which are working to curb terror acts.

Malik said that Karachi and Quetta were being targeted to attain “specific objectives.” He said that he had told security agencies that motorcycles should be parked at least half a kilometer away from Imambargahs.

He said that unverified SIMs will be blocked by November 30, this year.

The interior minister also said that everyone in Karachi will be held responsible if any attack takes place in the city.
