Can't disagree with it in a way,scandinavian nations or say the west on a whole has been trying to remain active in India trough NGO or at times exaggarate few issues,make them a global news and stuffs like that.though it could be blamed on the Govt for lettin'em do such things,negligiance of such issues by public servants has led to this aswell.

True chest beating about rapes didnt stop it but it reduced dramatically and media started reporting it more... The people became aware of the problem and started talking about it and stared condemning it more... The police became more serious about it... Strict laws have been made against it...

Hiding the problem aint gonna reduce it... talking more about it does, thats the whole point....

I dont care what tag we got... but its true rape cases gets serious attention now then say 5 years ago, do you think hiding it would have been better... Similarly I am sure the point made by Kailash Satyarthi will get more attention from now on....

This is like saying I do not care that my house burns down because finally I got rid of the mosquitoes biting me.

An Indian was pushed down to his death in the subway in New York though by a woman because he had brown skin and she thought he could be a potential terrorist or a rapist.

So keep working hard to get us defined as rapists.

BUT.... do you think hiding several 1000s of rapes does greater good to the society and (indians in India) because 1 Indian in US will get beaten up....Thats a lamest excuse ever mate....

First of all no one was hiding rapes in India. Rapes were being reported since the time of Independence and they are still being reported. The rapes per year reported were in the 22,000 range, now they have increased to 24,000 range. So a few people who were shy before have started reporting now. No drastic change in stats. Just slight increase.

So your charge that we are hiding it is false. Next, rape is a global phenomenon just like any other crime. There is no society free of crime. Now unless you have a plan by which all human beings on earth will become angels and not commit crimes, do let us know. Otherwise, you are just making a lot of noise for nothing.

Also you may like the feeling of being branded a rapist. Not all Indians share your view.
