I think I saw a gyrocopter video made in Pakistan.

I agree, but this helicopter is like a lego set..can change from assault to medivac configuration in just 2 hours:
Not our Dhruv is feasible for this role?
Yeah its a unique chopper....What do you mean by assault ???? Also IA wants to use LUHs on battlefield in their armored corps and i highly doubt this chopper can survive a war. This chopper is more like a peacetime chopper. The unnecessary structure on the chopper like the rear end make it more visible thereby making it vulnerable to VSHORADS. Also i think the lack of tail rotor also effects its capability. Looking at the landing gears i doubt it can handle rough landing.I agree, but this helicopter is like a lego set..can change from assault to medivac configuration in just 2 hours:
Not possible. Landing gear looks very fragile, fragile even for rough landing on land, forget about landing on rough sea that too on a platform which is moving at a speed of more than 25 knots.thats cool. it seems that it can land in sea based platforms WITHOUT any modifications?
LOH/LUH is right on its track. There was a problem with the engine, i mean they were not sure whether they should use Shakti or go for some other engine. Turbomecca is also charging extra money for Shakti but i think its resolved. The requirement stands the same, for 384 choppers (197 from foreign vendor + 187 from HAL). The HAL's LUH will enter in the production by 2014.Basically, LOH is supposed to be taking its place. The idea was of nearly 390 helicopters out of which 197 is foreign and remaining will be LOH. I've read a report like that a year back.
Well we needed a 2-3 ton category chopper for this role. They are mainly meant for surviellance, rescue operations, light attack. While Dhruv is a 5 ton chopper. Mainly meant for special operations, transport, ambulance, rescue etc. surviellance and light attack is not on top of its list. HAL has armed this chopper but i think they forcing this chopper to do something they are not meant to do. I think IA would rather prefer a heavy attack chopper like Apache or Mi28NE over Rudra. Not our Dhruv is feasible for this role?

I mean that PAC might have some capability to create something like this with two counter rotating rotors with wider blades and an all composite airframe and rotors as well.
And more over we could also look towards its Unmanned version with weapons for Army and Navy as well. like:
"* The Alouettes are clearly past their prime in the 21st century, demonstrates the persistence of this highly successful line of helicopters. There was consideration of even developing a "Naval Rotary Unmanned Air Vehicle (NRUAV)" Navy, based on refurbished airframes, fitted with a search radar, an imaging turret, electronic intelligence kit, and defensive countermeasures. Demonstrators were flown to evaluate the robot flight control system and other avionics, but the navy's interest then moved on to an NRUAV based on the much more modern and capable than other helicopter, and the Alouette III just became another one of the many interesting "what-ifs" of aviation history.
The IN in collaberation with IAI already wen quite far down the road to turn their Chetaks into NRUAVs but in the end it was found to be unfeasible and not cost effective. Afterall these are old platforms who were not oringally intended to be NRUAVs.
IN's platform:
That is why the IN is moving forward with NG FireScout and a more capable NRUAV based on the Dhruv.
