Justice Ather Minallah bombshell - Courts overthrowing PTI Govt prevented Martial Law

The West probably knows military coup is a thing of the past.

Best second option, a hybrid regime, post Musharraf era. The system remained intact until Apr ‘22 and this system too seems to be very unpopular in the minds of the public. (One can infer from the nasty words a common Pakistani has for the establishment)

The situation seems to be very fluid so to speak. The establishment/PDM would like temperatures to tone down and a good opening to tackle Imran. That would mean a hybrid regime with PDM and Establishment continue and each focusing on their domains like previous.

Or if Imran Khan cannot be tackled and he becomes the PM, then a new social contract would need to be enacted between Pakistanis and the politicians & establishment. Politicians taking control of foreign and security policy and army having to focus on defense of Pakistan, or something along the lines.

My guess is, they’ll tackle Imran Khan. They’ll (PDM) win the next general elections through rigging and disqualifying IK, but what they don’t know is what will be the reaction of the public post elections. Maybe nothing will happen or something will give, nobody knows.
Public are aware now

As far as solutions - @SQ8 probably has it correct - it will take a bloody and violent revolution to purge Pakistan from the parasites that have taken hold of it, and the Army and Establishment Elite know that, hence the 'periodic pressure release points'.

Before the PTI, the Army hid behind the 'oh, these dynastic politicians running the major political parties are corrupt and incompetent, we are your savior'. Well, whether the PTI was helped into winning or prevented from winning big in 2018 - that victory introduced a new third national political party into domestic power dynamics that took away the excuse the Army hid behind. The hope here is that Imran Khan chooses to play the long game and continues to leverage social media to get his message out.

Imran Khan may not be the best candidate for Prime Minister by any means, but he has become the most influential and important public leader since Bhutto (if not Jinnah) who can rally public sentiment in favor of a movement for genuine democracy free from the influence of the Army elite.

My only caution to begin would be to prevent revolution as described above. It would be effective as postulated, but my fear is that the country, given its geopolitical and economic vulnerabilities, may not survive it. Better flawed than non-existent.

As of now, IK is a wild card for me. I have my doubts and my skepticism, but he may yet rise above it. I would prefer to wait for the next elections and see if the nation stands behind him similar to the Punjab elections. If it does, there may yet be hope. If not, then we will undoubtedly go back around the same roundabout as few more times.

soon Ik with the help of Kashmir , Baltistan, KPk and Punjab will block Islamabad to crush this imported illegally installed corrupt regime by bajwa , just like VNC , we have long history of toppling the govts with long Marchs, nothing illegal in that

Risk need to be taken. We need to stop making the same mistakes and expecting a different outcome. I have said it before and will say it again. Khan is not perfect, no human will ever be but he takes us towards the right direction. His short tenure as PM was enough for people to fully believe in him. The few mistakes he made during his tenure he already accepted them and have made plans to correct them.

What else does one want from a leader?
PDM is 100% corrupt, yet Bajwa and his cronies support them 100%. That just shows how corrupt our society has become, generals who took an oath to protect the country are stabbing it in the back.

Waiting is not an option. The longer PDM stays in power more damage will be done. They will further destroy the economy and it will take that much longer and more harsh measures will need to be applied for correction.

We don’t go to the same mechanic or call the same handyman who rips us off. But these corrupt generals want Pakistanis to accept corrupt politicians of last 20 years as their leader?

People who support Bajwa within arm forces are traitors. They took an oath to protect Pakistan but are actually against their country. Chain of command need to be broken.

The US isn't really that concerned about Pakistan acquiring conventional military equipment from China.

US opposition to Imran Khan, which aligned with the corrupt Pakistan Army Leaderships own concerns, was that Imran Khan was becoming stronger and taking more independent positions and decisions. Longer term, they saw the US losing more and more influence over Pakistan. The Army saw this as a threat because they had nothing to blackmail Imran Khan with and therefore could not control him and did not want to lose their own unconstitutional influence and control over the country.

The US has always found it easier to deal with corrupt politicians and corrupt military generals, so on this the US, PMLN+PPP+Pak Army found a common cause.
As such the USA would again fail! These folks never take lessons.....

Ah, so the traitors and actual masters (Army Leadership) of the Taliban and violent extremist religious and sectarian terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah-e-Sahaba, TLP etc can continue to destroy Pakistan through their antics as they have for most of its history.

No such suggestion made , let us move forward towards election folks
There is no battle between Army and People

Army is there saving people in floods and providing supplies

Election and lets move forward
Why did you expect Indian Army to save Pakistani civilians? This is the least they can do with the resources provided to them by ordinary Pakistanis sacrificing their own needs in the first place.

What good are all the helis when they can't be used and won't be used in kinetic actions against the enemies of the state.

Use them to atleast save the masses

Then he is no better than the PDM stooges forced down our throats.
Or the PCO judges of Musharraf the previous coward traitor.

Pakistan died in 1971. It became Bangladesh. I dont know what to call my homeland, a modern day East Indian Company?
The fact that many of us still celebrate the dictator and self appointed Field Marshal Ayub Khan despite the disgusting campaign the Army leadership under him carried out against Fatimah Jinnah, the mother of the nation and younger sister of the founder of Pakistan, explains why we continue to suffer under the yoke of these Uniformed Bastards.

While the change in attitude towards the Army leadership by many on this forum is welcome, it will not be enough and it will not be genuine unless and until we start recognizing that EVERY single Military dictator starting from Ayub Khan was a traitor and that there was never and will never be any justification for the Army leadership violating the constitution and interfering in the democratic process and against elected governments.

Let’s hope things have changed.

Pakistan is not what it was yesterday. The boomers are in the minority and the majority are made up of Gen X, Gen Y, millennials. Coupled with the demographic changes, there is social media and consensus that PDM are pure evil.

You never know.
Army has made sure that Pakistan stays in a constant state of economic meltdown so they can rule over it illegitimately and indefinitely.

Things wont change and it's better for Pakistani's to look for greener pastures.

Let the corrupt rule each other.

Does this statement mean that Higher judiciary acted as collaborators to avoid military coup. How did this judge know with certainty that martial law plan was being activated? Who told him and why ? Was he in contact with military?

This does not help image of judiciary.. in fact sullied it even further..

@Accountant whats up with the negative rating? The fellow could be a pro n league but he came up with legal facts ----- wasn't it the bold and handsome who wanted his blue eyed 60's bureaucracy's control over an independent accountability aganecy like the bastardised provincial anti corruption or the f.i.a ?

Just kickback and enjoy the show coz someone stepped foot on the elite's tail. It's almost a daily occurrence watching them on t.v advising the masses on how they should uphold law and bear with the due course unless it's one of these thugs feeling the heat .
