Sino-Russia Border Redefined, #China Acquires 4.7 sq km
Ceremony was held on Wednesday to commemorate the five newly erected boundary markers along Sino-Russian border in Hunchun, Northeast China's Jilin province. Land of 4.7 square kilometers are thus officially divided into China from Russia in Hunchun City, part of Hubutu River included.
Bordering #Russia and #NorthKorea, Hunchun city is the window of China opening to the Northeast Asia's trade and cooperation.
According to Hunchun Municipality, China and Russia redefined the borderline in 1993, and the said 4.7 square kilometers' land was acquired by China then. In 2014, the State Council of China named five places in this area as “Jiepailing", "Tuolungang", "Hongqizhuang", and "Lanxiangpin”.
In the demarcation, a northward-flowing Hubutu River was also divided to Hunchun. The river is only 60 km from Ussuriysk, the largest Chinese cargo transportation center in Russia’ Far East.
In the ceremony, officials of Hunchun city also discussed to open a new port between China and Russia along the Hubutu River.
