When I first saw that pic above that you posted, right away I thought they still had to push that huge tank backwards to make room for the front landing gear to retract. But then I noticed the pylon for that ginormous tank was already as far back as possible and no way that tank could go back any further. So how the heck does that landing gear fold up? I guess this pic answers the question.

Not only does it fold towards the front, but it has to slide backwards also.
