Erdogan only a few days ago filled the ambassador post to Israel after about a 2 year hiatus/vacancy.

Erdogan and Turks really don't care about relations with Israel. This is best exemplified by a 2017 BBC poll that found only 10% of Turks saw Israel's influence as positive about the same as in Pakistan and Indonesia.

The S-400 are themselves only a stop gap measure the goal for Turkey is to finish the development of the Hisar-U (Siper) air defence system I also talked about a while back. They've already finalized the Hisar-A short range system they expected Siper by end of 2021 maybe early 2022. However, Turkey would also like continued assistance with Turkey's weapons development programs that they could go at alone but could advance much faster in partnership with European arms manufacturers particularly their ambitious indigenous jet engine plans for the TAI TF-X which is expected about 2029-2030.

Personally I have my own views on where Erdogan is going.

I guess we'll all have to wait and see.
