ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has constituted a judicial commission to probe into the Lal Masjid operation, Geo News reported.
The apex court heard the Lal Masjid case today (Tuesday).
The Supreme Court formed a judicial commission to investigate the matter. Senior judge of Federal Shariat Court, Justice Shehzad Al-Shaikh will head the commission. It will present its report in 45 days.
The commission will be tasked with ascertaining the reasons which led to the operation along with the number of deaths which took place during the operation.
During the hearing, a senior official of the Islamabad Police (AIG) Tahir Alam presented a report over the Lal Masjid operation.
The Chief Justice noted that the investigators had failed to prove whether those killed during the Lal Masjid Operation in 2007 were militants or not.
