JSD won't join the dialogue on EC formation

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), led by ASM Abdur Rob, has decided not to take part in the ongoing dialogue on the reconstitution of the Election Commission (EC) at Bangabhaban, reports UNB.
Party president ASM Abdur Rob came up with the announcement at a press conference at his Uttara residence on Friday, reports UNB.
"The formation of the EC is not a solution for a free and fair election. JSD is not going to participate in the dialogue for practical reasons," he said.

He said their party also thinks the current dialogue is not conducive in protecting the dignity of the president.
Rob said the dialogue should be held on the process of formation of a 'national government', not on the EC, for arranging a neutral election and establishing the rule of law in the country.
As the present government does not represent the spirit and determination of the constitution, he said, it has started filing new cases against the leaders and activists who are on a movement demanding a free and fair election and arresting them again in old cases. "So, the formation of the EC alone is not a guarantee for a neutral election."

JSD (Rob) was scheduled to join talks with president Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Monday.
Rob alleged, "The president, the government and the EC are involved in the violation of the constitution in the question of election. Those who violated the constitution should apologise to the nation."
He alleged that the current EC has betrayed the nation by destroying the electoral system with its biased role. The JSD president said 42 noted citizens of the country wrote a letter to the president seeking removal of the current EC. "But the president did not take any action."

He said their party believes that a neutral election is not possible in the country under a partisan government. "So, a guarantee for a free, fair and impartial election is now crucial. To this end, we have already presented the proposals of the national government."
President Abdul Hamid began talks with registered political parties over the formation of the new EC on 20 December. The President has already invited 28 parties to join the talks at Bangabhaban.

Earlier, BNP, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD), Islami Andolon Bangladesh and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) decided not to join the talks. The tenure of the current EC, led by KM Nurul Huda, is to expire on 14 February next year.
As per the constitution, a new commission must be formed before the expiry of the present EC.

Well, below is what ASM Abdur Rab said about the EC. Why do you think he will change his mind. He is not the exact copy of that so-called Socialist named Inu. The country needs to create the CTG or Interim govt system (this is also related to the CTG system that this govt will create) to avoid an unfair election. Without the provision of either of these two, most opposition parties will keep on organizing street movements.

Note that during the last 12 years, the BCL Chetona cadres were supported by the Police. But it is no more happening after the USA put sanctions on the Police IGP Benazir Ahmed. Police nowadays is busy to proclaim 144 to avoid conflicts between Chatro dal and BCL.

Thanks for explaining @bluesky bhai. Yes it is more and more apparent that EC is under complete control of AL, and CTG is the only way to move forward for all parties.

Of course it remains to be seen how far AL will go to resist this.

I find the timing of the US sanctions to be interesting now, as it is right before the election.

It seems they might be supporting (if not outright causing by influence) a regime change in Bangladesh.

They are not pleased by Hasina's autocratic practices.

But whatever new ruling party comes, I don't see them to be anti-Pakistani or anti-Chinese. That much is a given.

The USA is not exactly supporting the opposition, but it knows a regime change will happen in a fair election. The USA is now aware that the BAL govt has been hoodwinking the USA with fraudulent actions.

More than twelve Vloggers were killed in BD. Hasina and her Goebolic propaganda machine successfully propagated that the Islamic terrorists were behind these killings. So, America and others were happy to support the Hasina regime though she was bullying the opposition people.

But recently the USA has come to understand that the killings were actually organized and done by BAL itself, but they blamed the Islamic terrorists to hoodwink the West.

America came to know it after pursuing the Avijit killing case. He and his wife are American citizens. BAL killed them and blamed Islamists to get US sympathy but the cat is out now.

The USA has declared $5 million to get information on two criminals. So, who are these two? Certainly, they belong to the BAL party and America now knows it. That evil Hasina has been completely exposed.

Now, the opposition has become stronger and I hope democracy will be restored in the country. I have no personal objection if the BAL party again wins or keeps on winning, but democracy must be restored from the clutches of Hasina Bibi and her BAL party.

A CTG system is the death knell for the BAL party. So, it will resist it by all means. I am worried that the country is heading towards a civil war unless the BAL party learns to eat hard stones that come with an election defeat.

The situation today has abruptly changed after the US sanctions and other measures. Previously, the Police were shooting bullets when BAL brats were beating the BNP supporters with lathi and swords. Now, Police do not fire but regularly issue Section 144 to avoid fighting between Chatra Dal and BCL cadres.

The BNP supporters are gathering without the fear of RAB and Police. Now, Benazir's Police can no more open fire at them.

So, this will continue throughout this year and the BAL party will be forced to concede defeat because it can no more intimidate opposition people with the enforced disappearance or cross-firing.

My question is , why the sole agent of democracy United sate of America doesn't sanction on Saudi Prince and other Arab rulers.

Because oil is the best thing I understand.

So when you have money dictatorship is fine. When you don't have money ( or oil for selling), you must follow democracy right?

It's not that simple. America always supports democracy and yet America supports dictatorships too. In some places, it supports democracy while in other it supports dictatorships. In some places, it supports neither but yet is tilted more towards democratic side. While in other places, it supports neither but yet is tilted more towards military sides.

In case of Pakistan, no American president has ever visited Pakistan during the time of some democratic government.

Listen to Noam Chomsky, he explained it well. In his opinion, USA does not want true democracy in any country. If there is true deocracy then countries will make decisions in the national interest which can go against the national interest of USA. Therefore they always want a compliant government which has no conflict with US interest, and that compliant government can be 'democratic' or autocratic doesn't matter. If you remember this as a rule of thumb all your qustions about USA doing nothing about Saudi, UAE or Egyptian dictatorships will be easily answered.

On topic, I USA removes BAL through a fair election or other means I am fine with that as long as BNP-Jamat and BAL are kept out of power. The BAL royal family and the Zia royal family must be removed from BD forever for good. Want to see new face, educated, patriotic and young blood. And yes, I want to see an man as president or PM, a man with balls, hairy balls. Enough of women PM shit.

Can a small fellow like you criticize what America does to other countries? Who told you this little thing that America is acting to revive democracy in BD? Please give us a reference to prove your claim is correct.

America is the biggest power and it has only imposed sanctions against those in BD who killed innocent opposition people. And here you are weeping for BAL and Hasina Bibi, and then criticizing America.

Other sanctions are coming soon. One of the issues is Avijit killing. Who killed this Vlogger, was it Islamic terrorists or BAL conspirators? America now knows Hasina/ BAL conspired to kill him and then fingerpointed at the Islamists. And America belie\ved this false account of the matter.

Now, real Hasina has been exposed and America has declared $5 million awards for the two hiding criminals. Do you really understand what does it really mean? When the two are arrested, they will be tried on American soil because Avijit is an American citizen.

They will confess who conspired or ordered them. The names may be Benazir, Nanak, and Taposh. If they are arrested, at whom they will finger point? Will they not confess that Hasina Bibi was the main criminal behind not only the Avijit killing but also other 12/ 13 Vloggers?

So, now imagine what happens to your dear Aunt Hasina Bibi. So, you better get rid of your stupid notion and learn to respect the truth.

I wish your prayer is heeded by the BD population/ voters. But, in any case, democracy must be revived. This is the minimum, and let us see what verdict our voters give.

The thing is only BNP and BAL are well-organized. I wish one or two more parties are organized by other young people within this one year. But, mind one point that a fair election requires an interim or caretaker govt to take the state Executive power during the election.

Well have been reading tons of thread from you , so I suppose that it's another thread where you are singing about democracy !
America is the biggest power and it has only imposed sanctions against those in BD who killed innocent opposition people
Yes sir , I have been telling the same thing while you were beating around the bush and praising democracy and wishing how democracy will return because of your mighty USA!

But you forget that USA is just it's shadow! However I know I can't change your position as it's always fixed! Also I don't have to change it anyway!

Trying finding evidence. This man died 6/7 years ago ( or maybe more?) Then why our humanist USA was silent? Why they didn't investigate who was behind his murder? Now what suddenly happen that they are demanding it? Because Bangladesh didn't join QUAD? Same for the other victim! When BAL came to power that toke democrats were in power . Now they are in power as well. So now suddenly what divine command fall from heaven on USA that they became sooooo much humanist?

Because they want to create a base in ctg? And Bangladesh isn't going to give them the option so Bangladesh will face more sanction?

However again , sanction of few people really doesn't matter . But if they will sanction on whole Bangladesh, it will be the proven fact that the reason is QUAD!

If the reason is they want their base in CTG, then Hasina bibi can give it and stay in power for another 10-15 years.

But if this sanction will be limited to few officers , I've no problem. Even if the govt will be sanctioned , still no problem. But if the sanction is or will b for QUAD , then that's the real problem ( I hope it's not ).

And if not for QUAD then whole Bangladesh won't be sanctioned, so we don't have to be worried. No one will be happier than me if a true democracy will prevail in Bangladesh instead of this farcical show stared from 1991 after fall or Lieutenant General Ershad!

I feel the VP Nur guy might be a good one. But I have my reservations as well, he is not well experienced and doesn't have exposure of the international arena, need people who are highly educated, experienced and with expoure with a dose of patriotism and vision. Only if we had a man like Lee Kuan Yu, even someone like Tajuddin would have been good.

Hasina alone can't give it. Things aren't so simple as it looks. The bay of Bengal is the center of international power game nowadays. So before giving it to USA , Hasina shall have to face China.

The farcical show since 1991 to 2008 was not ideal but a little better than the last 12 years, at least we had some semblance of democracy.
