King Abdullah spared no time in arresting both his brothers and cousin; Prince Faisal bin Hussein, Prince Ali bin Hussein and Prince Talal bin Muhammad after Jordanian intelligence services alerted the King that there was communication between the brothers and cousin and Saudi and Emirati leaders; Mohammad bin Salman and Mohammed bin Zayed. The shock house arrest of the King’s siblings comes as the Middle East faces a renewed ‘revolutionary’ movement in several countries. Leadership among the MENA states has looked towards Saudi Arabia for explanations for it’s belligerency towards the governments despite showing good working relations otherwise. Long standing allegiances with Qatar were seemingly thrown aside in moments when Saudi Arabia launched an economic blockade against long time ally Qatar. Many blame Saudi Arabia’s young Mohammad bin Salman for these poor choices in relations.

Jordan has had a long standing image of being a neutral and well regarding state within a region prone to conflict. The Saudi Arabian stances towards even allies has concerned many in leadership positions to put up their guard. Trust has reached all time lows and strategists have blamed Saudi Arabia’s poorly planned actions for the shift of regional influence from the Saudi state and to Turkey, Iran and Egypt. Gulf Arab nations in particular have been very critical of often at times, unilateral actions by Saudi Arabia which they must comply with. Qatar most recently stated they were not against Iran in many aspects and sought good business ties with the neighboring state but due to Saudi Arabian influence were not allowed to pursue such relations.

The Jordanian military has maintained that the brothers and cousin were retired early as part of the military changes to the Jordanian Army and have refused to comment further on the news that they have communications with Saudi and Emirati leaders. The brothers and cousin have not been seen since the house arrest.

I agree on that.. but there is no sectarianism or anything close to a conflict between King Abdullah II and KSA or UAE..

. .
Every body consolidating their throne in the name of so called coup against their rule.

Behti ganga mien sab khath dho rehay hien....kill all the opposition is the right time to do do without any objection from anywhere.

True... that is why it is a bit odd...

I think the saudi camp want Jordan to more explicitly side with them against Iran.. Jordan doesn't want to get tangled in the saidi-iran garbage so hence the coup.

Saudi Arabia won't go that far for a different policy on Iran.. at worst Jordan is neutral..and is a very close ally of KSA..

I would discount the obsession the Saudis have over iran:
1. Imprison their own billionaires to bring them inline
2. Qatar sanctions
3. Yemen obsession... they will cause a humanitarian disaster in order to check iran
4. Even scold pakistan ... until Rahal Sharif was donated to them
5. Even make peace with Israel to counter Iran..

I'm sure if the can get Jordan to be more explicitly on their side... the desperate house of Saud is willing to take risks unheard of...

Sad but true.

The American war on terror has emboldened Iran and put the Saudi camp on a defence position..... Great game by the Yankee- Zionist ... checkmate gullible Saudis.

Well.. Saudis see it the other way around..or the obsession Iran has with Saudi Arabia and the Arabs in general.. cells related to Iran were fought from North Africa to Indonesia and Malaysia!!!

1- Every decent country wants to eliminate corruption.. those arrested in KSA had international independent lawyers to defend them.. so your claim based on some propaganda.. does not reflect any truth..

2- Qatar played a bad role in the GCC and back-stabbed everyone..this is well documented and proven.. So the least possible act against it was to cut relations with it..this was quite soft..

3- Yemen was in wars for the last 60 years, the only new thing is the Houthi tribe wanting to take control of the country..and they happen to be Shia'a..hence backed by Iran.. on the other side you have The Saudi coalition intervention mandated by the UN to save the legitimate government and put a stop to the civil war..

4- Scold Pakistan is a big word.. there was no scolding, the UAE was angry..but at the end things calmed down..General Sharif was chosen for his experience and merit in fighting terrorism.. you are demeaning his when you say he was donated.. the coalition is not Saudi, it is an Islamic coalition against terrorism..with head quarters in KSA..

5-There is no peace with Usrael.. and no war either.. it just happens that Usrael and the US do not like the Iranian revolution, and Saudi Arabia and most of the GCC defending themselves against Iranian "expansion" through proxies.. there is only a common denominator to both..and it is Iran.. the first are playing a strategic game with Iran while KSA and the GCC are acting on a tactical level.. can't you see the difference? so do not believe in propaganda..

You do have a very negative view of Saudi Arabia and house of Saud.. Jordan is their close ally.. and BS news like these do not reflect the reality..just propaganda like all the other points you have made.. just pure propaganda for the gullible to swallow and digest without looking for the truth.. this propaganda works based on the laziness of people who would rather read the news and take it for granted.. it is psychological propaganda..

Oh yes, I agree... Iran is not an innocent player. They too are vying for dominance. Iran has no business in Yemen or Syria... they have worked hard to oppress the Sunnis in the region to spread their dogma.

I am just sick of the Sunni-shia civil war that has brought down the entire region and beyond.

Everyone is sick of it!..

Saudis need to swallow the bitter pill... and make peace with Iran... in exchange request they Iran withdraw from Yemen and Syria.

Peace is made by the brave... unfortunately it doesn't seem to be heading that way.

The trap has been laid very cunningly by the enemies to ensure the region is in perpetual turmoil while they sell weapons to both sides and embolden Israel.
