I was thinking about this today. The Arab world can provide funding for a joint military industry project.

-We have many people with much free time
-We have an influx of engineers which we don't utilize
-We have many people to choose from to conduct research
-We can gather raw materials

...............

As far as I know, there was an initiative for a billion dollar industry project during the 70's between Saudi Arabia and Egypt. It was cancelled later on.

Seriously though, think about it. If Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, GCC, Jordan, Sudan, Libya, and other Arab nations can develop a joint military industry program it can prove to be useful in the short and long term.

What can Algeria provide? @Ceylal

Egypt can provide raw materials, munitions, massive rifle production, missile knowledge, etc...

Saudi Arabia/GCC can be very useful for research and majority of funding. A portion of the funding can go to enhance local production of weapons systems for Air Force , etc... @Aeronaut can expand on that more

Tunisia can focus on security related equipment ... @Mootaz-khelifi @Tunisian Marine Corps

Jordan can provide useful combat knowledge to enhance weapons research plus armor research/anti-armor research/production ....

Sudan can offer decent weapons production for the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza(This is sensitive issue which ignore for now) in return for employment .......

..............

...............

Serious discussion please. Arab posters who are relevant here please join. Let's not argue though. You either like the idea and want to expand on it or you don't.

NO TROLL POSTERS HERE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE ARABS OR WANT TO MOCK THEM. LOOK PAST THIS THREAD. IF YOU DON"T IDENTIFY WITH THIS THOUGHT, ALSO LOOK PAST THIS THREAD.

Thanks.

This is what I mentioned. It was largely cancelled in the late 70's. It is an old one. I wonder why we don't bring it back? Why won't we Arabs want to excel militarily? We have many people into this military related business.

Imagine if an initiative began, we would be producing our own armor, anti-tank missiles, rifles, ammunition, artillery, drones, uavs, missile defense systems, etc ... within ten years with large effort.

I fukin LOLED..

You Arabs see? This **** is mocking us. :D :P

We need to regain our honor.

Arab league is like a 1000 sheep lead by a few German Shepherds. The Arab league can become a superpower if they unite into a federation to realize their people's collective goals. They let petty differences and inbuilt racism take hold instead of looking at the bigger picture.

All projects start with political will - continue with political will and complete with political will. Pakistan started its nuclearisation program by the political will of PM Bhutto, who pledged to eat grass if needed to make it happen. Today we not only have Nukes but also a nuclear industry which is at the forefront of our civil nuclear and research ambitions for the next 25 years. Please ask yourself, would Pakistan have become Asia's first CERN associate member if it never started a nuclear program? - Would our nuclear program exist if our political will had shattered? - In other words our CERN membership started the day we decided to develop nukes. See how such decisions lead to unlikely positive results?

For the Arab world, everything is possible only if they unite and work for their common goals. Having joint military projects has nothing to do with being Arab or not. We jointly develop all big ticket items with the Chinese, does that hinder anything? - Of Course it doesn't. The problem with the Arab world lies in its leadership and its lack of will to collectively work for their strategic goals rather than personal interest. Civilizations who have done that in the past, have mostly been sunk, while holding onto their self interest.

The only thing getting in the way of a major project is the lack of any political will.

I think the issue is that Arabs aren't politically united, as @Aeronaut pointed out.

We should first stand up for ourself..

Nough said.

As the good old Punjabi saying goes.

''Haik, haik honda aye tey do yaahraan''
If you are alone, you are on your own.
If you are two (a team), you equal 11.

Hehehe - that is a correct saying but there is also another saying that says that you should only spend as much as your pocket allows. I don't think there is anything wrong in cooperating with other nations including the Arab world. Interacting with foreign countries makes us better and wiser.
