Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday said he would try to introduce a bill in the lower house for allocation of employment quota for persons with disabilities.
He was speaking at a seminar on disability and workforce organised by monthly Pakistan Special and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The seminar was held to pay tribute to police officials injured in separate bomb blasts in the capital.
The deputy speaker said the whole nation saluted the security personnel for their services in war against terrorism.
When asked by mediapersons whether the government would consider the point raised by a participant regarding special quota for persons with disabilities in the National Assembly, the deputy speaker said, I would talk to the prime minister in this regard.
To a question regarding provision of driving licences to the disabled persons, Mr Kundi said he would refer the matter to the ministry concerned in order to bring a bill to the assembly.
Inspector General of Police Syed Kaleem Imam told the disabled persons that efforts were in progress to issue driving licences to them besides acquiring a special vehicle for their driving test.
This is a very honorable decision by GOP. This should have been done long time back, so as disabled people can live with their head held high. Better late than never.
