1. It may not be used for now on our JF-17s, but in future if its performance and cost benefit factors favor PAF, then i don't see why it can't be used in our JF-17s. It all depends on its performance & long term benefit to us.

2. And the purpose of FC-1 & JF-17 is this, one wholly Chinese system from A to Z and another modular design which can be tailored if the client wants and if the supplier agrees.
1. well in the long term probably when it goes for a mid life upgrade, and by then you economy will be better than what it already is now.

2. modularity is the Chinese speciality.

The JF17 s are having spanish Indra EW suite may be believed to be much capable. The Mig29s of IAF were even more capable than Pak F16s during Kargil War but IAF not dared to enter Pak territory or fire from 400KM away their superior missiles. Even Paf had no official BVR capability though some analysts claimed that PAF had some South African origin BVR missiles but with limited range.

PAF despite it;s deficiencies was competitive at that time and even know is still competitive. The MKI 400KM range is also debatable just like Russian BVR missiles.
PAF requires strings free plat form which it can improve with passage of time same is done here.

Moreover Gen Raheel Sharif has given free hand to NAB to check past dealings of Military officials same is done in some cases. The quiet progress is going on in case of DHA (Kiyani Brothers) further I suppose Gen Akbar Ex Wapda chairman brought back from some foreign country and recovery has been made. If some one is patriotic he should contact NAB with proof. Other wise without any solid proof the accuser should be dealt with iron hand.
The corruption in defence deals is even done in India and many other countries same issue was raised by me some time back but got no solid reply about my query.
Only "Kayani Brothers" are left to be dragged by NAB because of the "groups rivalry" between Armed elite circles.
Same Raheel Shreef is still not giving NAB any access to the proved convicted Generals of the NLC scandal breaking the back of Pak stock market.

.
And it is a MAJOR issue with PAF. we are not talking of 40 engines, we will need at least 200 plus
A
PAF cannot even afford the 20 million thunder and is relying on loans and they want to add 10 million engine increasing the price by 50%!!!. point is thunder in its current form is too expensive for PAF let alone increasing its price by 50% ..the best we can hope is an IRST, AESA and avionics upgrade with 1-2 additional hard points may be under the inlets/fuselage..all these changes will not add more than 7-8 million per aircraft less than what the EF 2000 will add

what's the advantage? some increase in range etc...had PAF wanted that, it would have gone the route of Taiwan produced its first fighter, producing a twin engine thunder from the beginning as even two rd-93 engines are cheaper than 1 EF 2000

this would only be an option for export if we get a substantial order

EF 2000 would have been an options with funds being available, but again, had we have funds, we would not have the thunder!!!

.
How many JF17s have been inducted so far? and What response does PAF have to counter the AESA equipped IAF fighter jets?

2015 Production rates were at 16 Thunders / year , with promises of production rise to 20 craft the thunder is certainly set to soar

but EF2000 must be tested on plane, and at the same time PAF must concentrate on avionics , hard point , multi racks , use of composite material , HMS, HOBS etc . Once it is done and future funds are available then the engine replacement in future blocks can be considered . e.g it would not be a big deal for 2-3 squardons powered with EF2000.

Chinese Firm Claims To Offer Israeli AESA Radar

Chinese Firm Claims To Offer Israeli AESA Radar

By Wendell Minnick and Barbara Opall-Rome 2:48 p.m. EDT August 17, 2015

TAIPEI and TEL AVIV — A People's Liberation Army (PLA)-accredited, publicly traded firm is marketing an advanced airborne fire-control radar believed to be from Elta Systems, the same Israeli state-owned subsidiary at the heart of an incendiary chapter in US-Israel relations that continues to reverberate 15 years after Washington forced Israel to cancel a controversial contract with Beijing.

According to a product catalogue by NAV Technology Company, the Beijing-based firm claims its active electronic scanned array (AESA) radar "incorporates Elta's decades of field-proven experience with real operational feedback from Israel Air Force combat pilots."

While the catalogue — distributed at Airshow China in Zhuhai last November — does not directly identify Elta's ELM-2052 radar by name, its two-page description is nearly identical to publicly available marketing data by Elta, a subsidiary of state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), whose Phalcon aerial warning and control radar deal with Beijing was terminated in mid-2000 due to fierce opposition from executive and legislative branches of the US government.

The NAV-purported product boasts advanced multimode capabilities for precision, long-range attack of multiple air, sea and moving ground targets.

If indeed the radar is part of NAV's product portfolio, it could provide Chinese-made fighters — including those planned for export to Iran and other nations hostile to both Israel and the United States — with the ability to track and attack dozens of targets simultaneously.

Israel's Ministry of Defence on Monday said it has no knowledge of NAV and its claimed association with Elta. Yet when asked if the MoD had ever granted IAI a license to market the Elta airborne AESA radar in China or to a Chinese subsidiary, spokeswoman Orna Simhoni-Ofer declined to answer and referred Defense News to IAI.

In a written reply, IAI spokeswoman Eliana Fishler denied any association between Elta and NAV "or any other Chinese firm."

According to Fishler, "We don't have a clue as to why they wrote this in their brochure, but it is completely not true."

Fishler declined, however, to state what, if any, steps the firm intended to take against NAV for what it insists is a blatant forgery of IAI/Elta marketing information.

Yang Yunchun, NAV Technology chairman and president, did not respond to repeated requests for comment. The Chinese-language website for the company does not list an AESA radar as a product. According to public information, Yang is the founder and principal stockholder (55 percent) of the company traded on the Chinese stock exchange.

But in an apparent boost to IAI claims of forgery, NAV's 55-page product catalogue indicates the firm is willing to "reverse engineer" a US-made inertial navigation system that the Pakistani Air Force is having problems with. NAV would provide "a detailed solution," according to company marketing material.

The NAV catalogue also lists a "NAV-SDB Small Diameter Bomb" that appears identical to the Boeing GBU-39 precision-guided glide bomb, including photograph and specs.

In 2010, the company received Chinese government approval to manufacture equipment for the PLA, similar to ISO 9000 certification. The NAV website includes a copy of the quality control accreditation certificate issued by the China New Time Quality System Accreditation Center on behalf of the China Military Industry Product Quality Accreditation Committee.

. . .
If true thos will be a big deal. The pictured radar is the IAI EL/M 2052 which was barred for export (even to India) by the Israeli defense ministry under US Pressure because of it competing with US Products (while simultaneously being made using US Tech). This radar was originally being considered by SAAB to be offered on Gripen NG to India but was changed to Raven 05ES when Isreal banned the export. Same story for Tejas. This is quite a powerful radar and if it is true that the Chinese got ahold of it and reverse engineered it it would be a huge boon for the JF-17.

SO its funny US blocked sales of sensitive equipment to Pak ,Pak turns China ,China turns Israel ,Israel needs money ditched US weaponry and secrets to China .China copies it and make it more better ,comes to Pakistan ,PAkistan find Tomohawk and stealth chopper tail ,Pak gives China tail ,China turns it into master piece so it goes and goes ,WTF Uncle SAm is thinking
