JF-17 Fighter: China's Weird MiG-21 and F-16 Hybrid

But Air intake going below make it a totally different bird than JF-17

izdale 33 has more in common with F-16 than JF-17

Aerodynamically JF-17 is better than both
JF-17 Inspire both Izdale 33 and F-16 @BHarwana ;)

And what is you talking about F-16 is far more advance than JF-17 in the term of Aerodynamics, like T/W ratio, L/D ratio instantaneous turn rate, sustain turn rate, weapons loadouts, engine thrust etc etc @BHarwana :hitwall::hitwall::crazy::crazy:

Question - are another 20 in the pipeline for delivery this year? I assume still Blk2. Any thoughts when 17B's will be brought online.

So far it seems that PAF is going for additional 50 Block 2's ... some members hinted that we have 100 + JF operational and we haven't heard aout block 3 so far ,so my assumptions says that we are going for 100 block 2's and 50 Block 3 , which will bring total number to 200 . ( 50 blk 1 , 100 blk 2 , 50 blk 3 )

.
Per statements 12 block 2 will be built for paf in 2018 and looks like remaining capacity will be utilised during 2018 and 19 for international orders with block 3 starting in 2/3 quarter of 2019

JF-17 has the same size as MiG-21. No doubt JF-17 started off based on J-7. But today's JF-17 bears no resemblance to MiG-21 and does not have a single design feature found on MiG-21.

Yes, but it is more like 100+ of Blk3; with final numbers for blk 3 being around 150. Total number will be 300 with may be around 25-50 additional B versions.

:disagree:No super7 and SaberII is a upgrade of J-7 and super7 saberII projects closed in 1988 but JF-17 is based on Soviet rejected design

It will be , if Block 1's are not limited in the modification .. it will make more sense to eventually upgrade all blocks to the latest standard of the time .. and yes sorry i forgot to add B version , the numbers might vary .

Makes sense. JF-17 is powered by RD-93 which is developed from RD-33 which powers MiG-29. MiG-33 is in turn developed from MiG-21 but by the time MiG-33 was designed MiG-33 shared no resemblance with MiG-21, only having the same size as MiG-21.

Hi,

I think the true utility of the BLK B would be recognized when the Paf has a 1 / 2 sqdrn to operate.

Yes, Blk1 could be to Blk2; but from Blk2 to 3 is not feasible given the high degree of changes especially if B is reflective of Blk3; then Blk1/2 are standalone.
