JF-17 Expected to Powered by RM 12 Engine: Report

PAF Expected to Operate 250 JF-17 jets.

According to the analysts in the current situation Pakistan Aeronautical Complex may get 36 RD-93 Engines.

There will be a possible order of 120 RM12 Engines.

WS-13 has a long way to go.

USA may approve this deal because if USA can deliver F-16 (Block 52) jets, so providing RM12 Engines won’t be a big issue.

US Pakistan Strategic Dialogue Coming Soon

Mr.Sri Lankan, This deal will not happen because there is a defence trade ban on China by US.

.
if this is true..thats called economic strangulation...

This could also backfire..because Pakistan can make all the hoopla for buying junk causing Indians to move in and place a large order under their "economic estangulation" policy. The Pakistan moves to accquire the real deal which is intended while Indians end up buying junk.
The other possible scenerio is supplier aggreing to sell to both parties causing Indians nothing but money waste.

well if in case india block this deal india has to buy gripen from sweeden if not than they will sell these engines to pakistan which still a rumor if india buy the gripen than russia and france for sure will seeel their equipment to pakistan india will gain a little and loose from other side france and russsia stopped the deals to pakistan because they are waitting what decisssion india takes if india went to EF,Gripen and F18 than the franch and russia looses alot of money so they want to cover the loose and they sell their equipment to pakistan the deal to pakistan wont cover the whole deal of indian multi billion dollar deall but somehow they will get something out of nothing with pakistan

.
^^ So you agree that Pakistan's options are limited to countries where India does not have major deals going. BTW, dont just focus on defence deals.. Civilian deals, though less glamourous for this forum, are generally larger in term as well as size..

.
Karan 1970 pakistan also signed few major deals with france as a civilian deal as gas deals etc yes pakistan might have limited option. but india also has a limited option because it only can choose only one type of fighter jet for MRCA project from 6 different defence fighter jet producers if india ignore other 5 out of those other 5 frnace and russia could be the one so in revenge they will selll to pakistan thats why india is taking alot of time to decide what fighter jet they will buy for MRCA it has been in 2005 when usa sended F 16 to india for trials 5 years have past india stilll not sure what they want they are just considering what is a major deal for JF 17 to stop from france or russia than they will decide what to buy im sure india have EF,Gripen and Mig 35 are main running contenders i think

.
Now india will go for Grippen to block this one too. Just watch. They might also buy Volvo. Lol

1- IAF is not that stupid I guess as some of the posters here are (definitely the one who replied)......however, they would lure the Swedish company by MMRCA....
2-PAF will not like to go for an engine for AC which would make it practically dependent upon not one but two countries (i.e. US and Sweden)....WS-13 with production rights will be an Ideal thing...WS-10 may also be an Option (as the engine is already in limited service)...so It seems against the rationale of JFT as PAC's production will be dependent upon engine's supply....
3- Swedish Govt will not let any foreigner buy Volvo Aero (Subsidary of Volvo for military development) due to its critical nature
4- Automobile business of Volvo has recently bought by who....Guess.....Indians??......Nop...guess again....OK here is the hint:azn:
http://thailand-business-news.com/n...y-buys-swedish-volvo-for-1-8-billion-dollars/

.
welll if Volvo is up with personal with indian than it will not be fair to choose for JF 17 engine

.
RM12 would be going back and a ton of problems. It is a big No No for us. We need either WS13 or RD93B if USSR can ensure continued supply, but most likely WS13. This is the way forward.

I posted this elsewhere on the forum about this line on India will have to chose 1 out of 6

Do you really believe this?? You need to look at this in perspective.. India's annual Capital (new purchases) defence expenditure in 2010-2011 is over $ 13 billion. Assume a 8% increase year on year

This MRCA deal of approx 11 billion is spread over next 7 years. Approx financial outlay of $1.5 billion per year for next 7 years

So there is a balance of approx $ 11.5 billion dollars ($13 - 1.5 billion)worth of annual market (increaseing at 8% per annum) that India represents. Even for companies that lose out in the MRCA, it still represents a large untapped opportunity. If you believe they are holding back from supplying Pakistan because of attractive business options in India, then not winning this MRCA deal will just be a blip on the radar.

And we are already seeing examples with France getting the Mirage upgrade deal and Russia getting more and more business with SU 30s

Dont forget addnl orders for Phalcons for Israel and Herculese and Howitzers for the US.

In short, the financial implications of India's Defence spending is not going to get over with the MRCA deal. Going by what is being seen, its just the start.

It seems the local manufacturing and building of ones own engine is great feat. Even now, after 60 years, there are select countries that manufacture their ''own'' engines. Many license produce them, but thats something else.

Im curious, can anyone give some insight into engine designing and manufacturing.

I think Pakistan should invest in the Chinese project moreso, we need move beyond this major engine hurdle which is clearly a major milestone in aircraft development and in line with Pakistan's stated goal of self-reliance.

.
No thanks , we need WS-13 with home production option , forget these green gardens.

.
well what type of engine do J 10 uses is that WS 10 or any other engine and when did WS 10 fully produced?
