Usury is a totally different thing than what ' interest ' is in modern day banking---.

It was the ROMAN EMPIRE that had banned the used of USURY in the state.

You would be surprised that USURY was also banned in the USA as well till the 80's /90's.

USURY is anything far above a general interest rate that compounds so high that a loan cannot be paid back---.

There was a time that rates above 21.95% were not allowed in the U S financing---.

Anything over that rate was considered usury---.

The word related to USURY---or the charging of interest is forbidden inIslam is PURELY & SOLELY based on Loan Sharking done in what is saudia arabia---outrageous interest rates---ad interest on top of interest---ie---sood dar sood---.

The rates could be starting from 50% and going upwards of 250%---that is what usury is---and not your simple interest rates of 3-4-5-6 ---10-12-15 % simple interest loans.

We don't believe in other religions, hence we have no obligation to not depict their religious figures.

However, we should be respectful to other religions so long as their followers respect our faith.

How so? It is for the good reasons that depiction of Prophets are not allowed. Otherwise, people would make the color seem superior and less focus on the contents.

That is already the case with the Arabs and Jews. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was Prophet not because he was Arab, rather GOD picked him. At the end, it is up to GOD to guide and pick whom GOD wills.

No white/Arab is superior over black.
No black is superior over white/Arab.

That was the last declaration left for the community of Islam.

2000 years later, the color of the people still matter, and to this day, people equate color with either superiority or inferiority. India is perfect example where India is literally slave of the white color. And white civilization whiten the Bible especially their Prophet so they don't feel left out when the contents of Bible already backs equality in many ways. Not to mention, that gave them the excuse to impose slavery on black people for years and treated them like subhuman.

I understood why Islam is not favor of depiction of Prophets because even today, the colors matter which defeats the whole purpose of the message or Bible/Holy Quran. Besides, not only Prophets, even the depiction of human beings are not allowed either. That is GOD's art.

Copying GOD's art is like piracy. It is copy and copy is illegal without the permission from GOD.

The simple fact that Islam denies the 'other religions' religious figures' being true takes them out of the ruling of not being allowed to depict them in pictures, because to and in Islam they aren't religious figures at all.......hence not hypocritical. If the other religion forbids it then it's a different matter all together and not allowed.
