Jeremy Lin: His Impact On Changing The Perception Of The Asian American Mal

Do you know as two major claimant of Diaoyudao and SCS,why mainland China and Taiwan never has problems on those two issues? because both reached a tacit agreement that either side takes those islands will be fine,as longs those islands are in Chinese hands.
taiwan is an also-ran in the island dispute. its stand means little.

not only an also run,Taiwan has the biggest island in Spratly which is also the only island where fresh water can be found.but you know why China is almost at brink of war with other small claimants namely Vietnam,Phillippines,Japan...but never with Taiwan because of those islands??

Do i care receiving infraction? The dumb Indian is telling mainlanders to go back after spending money in Taiwan. As a mod you should learn to discover inappropriate insults.

i see the dispute as purely a capability issue, TW does not have the means to enforce a solution (fair or otherwise). right now japan is the stronger party hence the control and administration belongs to them.
let's not derail the thread with further comments on the island issue.

uhmm ok. got anything on topic?

As China gets powerful economically, financially and militarily, resisting China will be a pointless exercise. It will be a gradual unification. It is being done economically and financially. In the next few decades it will be done politically.
The military option is off the table. China has been making Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau depend on mainland China for trade, investment and finance. Once the economic integration is done, the financial integration will happen when the use of the renminbi increases in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. Once economic and financial integration is complete, it's pretty much half the job done.
Then certain aspects of political integration will happen with the end result being full integration. The CPC leaders plan for 20-50 year horizons. The CPC leaders are pretty much following how the European Union integrated economically, financially and politically.

People can protest all they want, but as long as we have the important people in our pocket, the resistors don't matter.

that's a pretty terrible model, given how politically fractured EU is.
unification will happen when taiwan wants it. for now, it is off the table.

Exactly, an "independent" Taiwan will not last forever. Some Taiwanese might scream for independence, others want unification (with the condition that ccp collapse). After few decades Taiwan knows it has no choice but to accept CCP condition.

Taiwan has a decent navy and Diaoyudao is next to Taiwn,Taiwan surely has the means and capability to enforce their claim and Taiwan also has the biggest island in Spratly where fresh water can be found ,it's strategicallly very important because Taiping island can serve as a key supply station for naval ships in SCS.

decent isn't enough to face off japanese navy (backed by USN), even mainlanders ran away from the water cannons.
anyway, i have no intention to convince you. we all have our opinions.
