And for the tsunami, we are a poor nation but the people in Vietnam donated as well. I know of reports even the overseas Vietnamese collected money and sent to the people of Japan.

Don´t you know that Japan surrendered in September 1945 to the Allied Forces, while Vietnamese army defeated the French in the decisive battle of Dien Bien Phu in May, 1954? The bloody France-Vietnam war lasted nearly for another 9 years, after Japan withdrew from Vietnam.
