Its not the same. The Imperial Guard is an actual combat unit whose sole purpose is to protect the Emperor and the Imperial Family. Its an entire Regiment strong.

Their headquarters is located within the vicinity of the Imperial Palace:

Besides defending the Imperial House, they're also expected to perfect Artistic Impression.

Perfecting Art is also part of an Imperial Guard's Duty...

Totally different. Japanese Honor Guard have a different uniform from the Imperial Guard.
