Japan stealth jet prototype set to fly in 2014

I never reply Gambit's post. This guy is probably a paid professional poster, ignore him and he might lost his job, LOL
Because you lack critical thinking skills. Even the source provided by your pal has Japan's supersonic wind tunnels nearly as many as China's.

AIAA - Aerospace America Online - JAPAN LOOKS TO SCRAM INTO SPACE - In the race to build the world
The U.S. is widely regarded as the leader in the scramjet field. However, NASA’s efforts to design and test a scramjet vehicle were dealt a setback in June 2001, when controllers were forced to destroy a Pegasus carrier rocket together with its 12-ft-long experimental plane, the X-43A. NASA plans to launch the second of three identical X-43A planes in September with a test that will run to Mach 7.

Japanese scientists have built two engineering models of supersonic-combustion engines, called E1 and E2. On the E2 model, Japanese engineers changed the internal flow path of the exhaust and simplified the cooling system to enable the model to run at Mach 8, where the E1 engine had been vulnerable to damage. They have tested the engines in wind tunnels at Kakuda and are anxious to conduct their first flight experiment. The proposed test, to take place in Australia, would use the E2 engine design. “This will be realized provided that the funding is approved,” Mitani stipulates.
What this mean is that the Japanese are at least as much experienced at testing and data collection in the supersonic region as China is, if not more experienced. There are no credible argumentative reasons on why the Japanese cannot build a full scale WT/PT facility if they wanted to.

- Young
- Still in school
- Inexperience
- Never had a real job in large scale manufacturing
- Never had a real job in designing
- Never served in the military
- Rejected from a conscription policy

If a lot of rich people are snobs, quite often they are that way with a good reason: Their wealth allowed them to experience the finer quality things in life that are out of reach of us 'regular' folks. The snobbery exhibited by the Chinese boys here are the worst sort: from ignorance. All of the items listed above are applicable to all of the Chinese boys here to some degrees. I am a gun owner and have a 'concealed carry' license. The blather that I see from the Chinese boys here is like watching a bunch of kids who never fire even a BB gun but has no problems telling a master armorer how to run his tools and shop.

He needs to do it. That kind of cheap personal attacks are all that he has. No real world experience in anything yet. A conscript reject from the PLA. What else can he bring to the discussion other than his racism?

You are far worse. You make personal attacks on anyone that is Chinese with claims that they are brainwashed and racist including me. "All you Chinese boys" ring a bell?

Like I said you are a self hating racist stay at home reject. No qualifications are needed to see that.

What? You thought just because I rebuffed him I would agree with you?LOL

As for life experience I know that people that have to prove their superiority on the internet are failures in real life.

Anyone who doubts Japan's technical know-how is in denial. It is not a matter of cannot, it is a matter of "Do we need to?" There's no need to make engine X or wind tunnel Y when these can be purchased at a substantially lower cost.

It's cheaper for me to buy a "lawn boy" lawn mower, rather than set up my own foundry and machine shop to make one.

If you're going to fight a war with a lawn mower, it's best that it did not come from 8000 km away. The grass will grow before it gets shipped.

Did my simple analogy really fly overhead as easily as this?

Smart people, corporations, and nations, don't undertake massive and complex technological projects just to say "See? We can do it. Aren't we just chock full of pure and awesome WIN? " If they elect to do it, it is not for bragging rights, but because there is a perceived need to do so. Reasons for such a need are many. Some needs are legitimate, more are not so.

A good way to bankrupt a corporation (or nation) is to ignore economic sense and try to do something that has been done expertly for decades by others. For example, no doubt the British aerospace industry could produce a transport to rival Boeing or Airbus. But the costs to do so are prohibitive, and there is no need, because British carriers can purchase Boeing or Airbus products.

Pakistan feels the need to produce the JF-17. This is probably justified, given the history of sanctions and such. Japan - unless they feel it is essential they operate something like the F-22, they will be better off buying fighters. Their forays into fighter production have been painfully expensive, money that could better go towards national infrastructure and other critical programs.

I respectfully disagree. This is the old "comparative advantage" trick that Western capitalists use to fool developing nations with. For example, let's say the US was trading with Nigeria. Nigeria has an absolute disadvantage in both farm products and computers, for example, and can never compete with the US on either. However, comparative advantage dictates that because Nigeria is better at farm product production, it still should sell farm products and import computers. The end result, of course, is Nigeria's farm industry still collapses and it still has to import computers. The "comparative advantage" theory is simply a tool for keeping the same countries at the top of the technological pyramid and suppressing others from even trying, on the basis of "it is not cost effective".

By your example, China investing billions into TD-SCDMA telecom technology is utterly stupid, because it can just buy W-CDMA from DoCoMo in Japan using the money we gain from our comparative advantage in low cost manufacturing! Then the end result is, you westerners laugh at us for only being able to do "low quality" manufacturing.

Say what? Who is 'suppressing' anyone? Who is holding a gun to anyone's head and forced him to buy what he does not want? If common sense and budgeting reasons are compelling enough, and they usually are, people will buy from others what they need instead of replicating what has been done before.

why is china threatened by this-- maybe it gives they an opportunity to copy/paste by hacking their project? China should be secretly happy to let others innovate while you duplicate.

Jealousy is earned (J-20) but sympathy (a certain South Asian country walking around with a begging bowl to the white man's arms dealers) is free.

The Japanese are fully capable of developing their own 'stealth' fighter. People usually mistake budgeting with incapability and nothing could be further from the truth. If the Japanese decided to fully commit to the project, the US will step in to help, if not already since today's aircraft designs are always in virtual, then their version of 'stealth' will balance out China's J-20 and perhaps even superior.
Nonesense...:disagree: nothing but wishful thinking from the west...:azn:

it will be decades before anybody can match the J-20 advanse tech...:china:
