If we go far back in history, my friend, before the notion of classical concept of nation states, before the notion of a 'Japan', we find that the proto-Japanese, the Yayoi, descended onto what is the Japanese Archipelago via Zheijiang region of what is now the People's Republic of China. So it is not without merit when I say that the Japanese are somewhat kin to the Han. One can even claim that the Vietic Kinh also have some genetic similarities with our Han distant cousins.
