Japan Maritime Self Defence Force and Indian Navy Exercise JIMEX 2013 from 19 to 22 Dec

India and Japan are scheduled to hold their Naval joint exercise from 19 to 22 Dec. Japan-India Maritime Exercise (JIMEX) is being conducted in waters off the Indian coast is scheduled in the Bay of Bengal, which falls under Eastern Naval Command.
Stealth Frigate INS Satpura, the Guided Missile Destroyer INS Ranvijay and missile corvette INS Kuthar, of the Indian Navy will hold maneuvers with Guided Missile destroyers, JS Ariake with Commander Escort Division – 7 embarked and JS Setogiri, of the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF).

The second of the series exercise focuses on Maritime Security Cooperation. The exercise will comprise harbour and sea phases of two days each. During the harbour phase, the ships crews’ will exchange experiences through professional interactions and will undertake planning for joint operations for the sea phase. The sea phase will include exercises such as VBSS ie Visit, Board, Search and Seizure drills frequently undertaken during Anti-Piracy operations, Gun firing, cross deck Helo operations and operations in anti-surface, anti-submarine and anti-air threat scenarios. The exercise will serve to enhance interoperability.
