Japan fires water cannon to turn away Taiwan boats

^TW didnt start the current standoff, neither it is in a position to end it. hence the comment stands.

TW as a providence of course couldn't start the current standoff, however ROC which administrate TW right now does.

No one is in a position to end the dispute alone, and we should all stop pretending it can be. Taiwan is still central in this issue, pretending otherwise is no less than living under a rock :hitwall:

like i said earlier, we're all entitled to our opinions. no issues there.
tomorrow if china backs down and comes back to status-quo, i dont really see taiwan continuing to send ships to assert ownership of senkakus. the reason (imo) they sent ships is simply to lay their stake and announce "hey you guys, we are also relevant in this retarded mess".

It won't stop Chinese activists from sailing to the islands and landing as they did earlier when Japan makes noise over the islands. Then we can start the whole thing again, and it will reach this point where Taiwan sends vessels armed with water cannons to the islands. Talk about full circle...

Japan's getting assailed on all sides as different parties start joining in, taking advantage of each other's disputes. Russia is joining in with the Kurils, while South Korea will turn up the rhetoric for the Dokdo Islands.

If things go worse, China could consider giving public support to Korean nationalists on the Dokdo island dispute. The SK elections are coming up so driving up the fervor for Korean nationalists could be good timing.

The US will be hesitant to help Japan if the dispute flare up between SK.
