J-20B (FC-20B) news

Don't know about the others, but the Turkish folks have learnt that to fully utilize the 5th gen capabilities it better be home grown. The most critical parts in the realms of avionics, EW, radars, armaments etc. need "personal touch" to stand out among thousands of commonalities. Hence, the Pak project to develop indigenous 5th gen is a right choice!!! I am pretty sure the Chinese inputs would save them the hassle of "reinventing the wheels"!!! And, as is the case with almost all engineering projects, the "wheels" get exponentially bigger and complicated as the level of complexity and sophistication increases!!!! Any "friendly" inputs are more than welcome......
these highlighted ones are not easy things to do, more complicated than you thought```to code the software achitect and rounding up thousands of mathmetical equations alone can rule out most of countries (developed), and then it comes to debugging, "tuning" and systemetic integration which even Gernamy and Japan are not up to the job.``however these highlighted parts are not the hardest part````

radiation emission researches, aerodynamic researches and high performance turbofan, are the real hassles to develop a real 5th gen fighter`````and the worst part is that those "helps" cannot be bought or borrowed, you have to "reinventing the wheels", the only things you can "borrow" are those hundreds of published research papers (either by American or Russian and Chinese coming up very quickly lately)

for the first one, you need decades long experience of examing, collecting, calculating and formulating bands, data and methmetical equitions`````the second one, again you need state of art wind tunnels from various sizes and speed + hundreds of thousand hours of planned tests. With all of these then you can come-up with an aerodynamic efficient and friendly frame that can actually be stealth !

and lastly the engine part``well, that is the job for industrial and technological superpowers```no disrespect to others, but that what it is all about`````

so you are right to some extent that to develop a real 5th gen fighter you have to rely on yourselfe. However, the question is, how deptermined your nation is to support a project that will go for decade after decade, which is also needs a dramatic boots of all fields of related industries, and during the time you might not see any results but counterless failures````are you guys ready for that?

  • J-31 likely a high runner
  • J10B
  • Sukoi-35
  • Project AZM (Local initiative)
J10B is a weird designation of PLAAF's J-10 series```we changed the production as soon as the ideal radar and avionic system comes ready```hence bulk production of J-10C````so if PAF is really getting J-10 soon, if would be very lilely to be J-10C varants```not the "weird" B```````and CAC is working on J-10D, "they" said it is going to be another beast of their works``

.
Why all these different designations (A/B/whatever)? The jet will retain the same configuration regardless of which engine is installed.

and CAC is working on J-10D, "they" said it is going to be another beast of their works``

Some observers are speculating that CAC is developing a single-engined 5th generation platform. Could the J-10D be such a project under disguise?

never heard of that project````but I am really curious that on what bases they come-up with the idea of developing a "single-engined 5th gen platform"```

.
no ws-15 available until 2025.
rational people know it well. but, engine problem is not a heart desease, it's diabetes。
:disagree:WS-15 had started air testing since 2016 and first J-20 equipped with WS-15 aka J-20B will be seen 2019-2023 timeframe , go to J-20 news and discussion thread in chinese defense sections bro:p:

.
If something will happen PAF will announce it so we should let them tell

.
.
Bro Pakistan is not global market for China
They even signed a contract for 36 J-10B with Pakistan, when it was not available for sale in global market.

China: 'Pakistan is our Israel'
:disagree: not possible J-20 is barred for export just like F-22 and J-20 will be overpower , single mission (air defense jet) PAF want more multi-role jet like F-35, FC-31, KFX and kindly tell me did USA sell F-22 to Israel:p:

.
Yaar J-20 is way too big for Pakistan's requirements.
Large twin engine jets suit countries who have to cover very large areas
I think all the fanboys and PAF should get out of this single engine love...we need twin engine not bcoz our territory is large..but bcoz our enemy has large area..so if we want to be aggressive airforce some day and get out of this defensive mindset then surely we need large birds which have enough ammunition and range to strike at the heart of india

we need air superiority jets..coz our enemy is huge in numbers..so if we want to not only defend our air space but also inflict damage on india..we need such fighters.
Honestly tell me can we launch an aggressive mission with just f16s and thunders??

Every air force in the world is aggressive air force..i don't know why PAF has become the only defensive airforce....if we have limitations coz of some resources today..we should aim for going aggressive role in future..otherwise we will be always at mercy of our enemy

based on rumors and speculations```not fact```I personally would feel very lucky to see WS-15 operational during that time frame````

When it comes to the national security and honor some folks are ready to "eat grass" or "milk the bull"!!! As for the Turkish folks they have no choice!!!! Anyway, work sharing in F35 project has given them invaluable inputs and experience regarding stealth fuselage etc.!! As for the engine, the British has been contracted to make a basis to that of EJ2xxxx level so that folks can move on. As for EW, radars etc. Turkish folks are increasingly considering it as their own forte!!!! Turkish made weapons are being integrated with F35. Not everything is from scratch. The rest will be covered by working day and night with the zeal we call "Ashk-i Ibadet" (love of worship, which made the nomadic Turkic folks to establish Super Power states of their time).....

these highlighted ones are contradicting with your claim of doing it on your own. as I stated previously, that fuselage wasnt done with few sketches and "brillant" thoughts``every bit of curves, shapes, this and that are supported by the datas collected from hundreds of thousand hours aerodynamic tests, radiation emission sreaches and wind tunnel tests. unless your "next gen" fighter has the identical fuselage to F-35, otherwise you just cannt bypass all of those tests to come-up a working 5th gen fuselage. its a fact!

and the engine part``lol, believe me, give Turkey all the blue prints and money, and also given the timeframe of a decade, you wont be able to make an engine as good as EJ200 at the current condition. and eventhough EJ200 is not in the category of high thrust turbofan engine````its a medium thrust engine```

after all, the English wont transfer any of the core engine techs to anyone, not even the U.S``

As for EW, radars etc. Turkish folks are increasingly considering it as their own forte!!!! Turkish made weapons are being integrated with F35. Not everything is from scratch. The rest will be covered by working day and night with the zeal we call "Ashk-i Ibadet" (love of worship, which made the nomadic Turkic folks to establish Super Power states of their time).....

with all respect, that is a delusion. I dont even know where to start.

I know few guys from institutions in defense sector (well, I've ben defense enthusiast for decades, dig deep enough into the circle``) who had been involved with foreign projects, Turkey as for one, the "rocket" projects, and HQ-9 contender and ect`````Do you know your rocket system TR-300 and TR-302G? rocket system seemly a "low" tech weapon, but that took you longer enough to develop it with a complete production line ToT (not assembly line) bought from China.

so dont think for a minute that Turkey can suddenly came on the stage because of believes.

But its single mission jet(air defense jet) PAF want 5th gen multirole jet and (J-20 has not that capabilities) FC-31 is also has 2 engine and more balance capabilities than J-20

China Rules Out Selling its J-20 Fifth Generation Jet on Global Market

China is not considering putting its newest J-20 fifth-generation jet fighter on the international market, Air Force Commander General Ma Xiaotian told local television.

On Tuesday, China unveiled twi Chengdu J-20 stealth fighters at the Airshow China-2016 in Zhuhai. The aircraft was developed by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation. The J-20 conducted its first test flight in early 2011.

"We are not considering putting [the J-20] on the global market," Ma was quoted as saying by South China Morning Post.

At the same time, the commander said it was satisfied by the demonstration flight at the Zhuhai airshow.

Of course I’m satisfied. It’s a very good thing that our J-20 made an appearance here. We’re speeding up its development," he added.

While the detailed specifications of the new jet have been kept secret, to all appearances the jets have been designed to match the stealth capabilities of fifth-generation fighter aircraft such as the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and Russia's Sukhoi PAK FA.

The deputy editor of Russian military magazine "Arsenal of the Fatherland" Dmitry Drozdenko told Sputnik that J-20 bears similarities to an experimental prototype for a fifth-generation fighter jet produced by Russia's MiG aircraft corporation, which was finally displayed last year.

"In my opinion, the machine is based on the Russian MiG 1.44. That plane was created to compete with the PAK FA at the preliminary design stage, and made its maiden flight in 2000. The Chinese plane is very similar. Although it hasn't been announced officially, the J-20 uses our AL-31F engine, developed by Salut, which the Chinese bought for half a billion dollars," he told sputnik

In addition to the J-20, China is also developing another fifth-generation jet fighter, the Shenyang J-31, but with a plan to attract foreign buyers.

Earlier, Russian Air Force official Sergei Kornev told RIA Novosti that the J-31 will be equipped with the Russian-made RD-93 engine. The J-31 conducted its maiden flight on October 31, 2012. Currently, the aircraft is still in development.

J-20 ain't gonna come as Chinese already said in November 2016 that J-20 is not for export

In the end it's gonna be FC-20 which is J-10B or C for the replacement of Mirage Rose Fleet

These Russian when talk about J-20 is as clueless as India.

What PAF wants is another story ! What I wrote is something else

.
But its single mission jet(air defense jet) PAF want 5th gen multirole jet and (J-20 has not that capabilities) FC-31 is also has 2 engine and more balance capabilities than J-20
J-31.although, has 2 engines but is compared to F-35 in size(which is single engine)...so it arises question about payload comparison of both fighters
Now, even J-20 is omnirole, but we should go for it bcoz this role is desired and imperative for keeping an air force roughly twice of your size, in check.
Tell me 1 thing although india has huge territory and numerous planes why the have air superiority fighters..with their traditional enemy Pak being much smaller in resource and area???
