" It's India's right to have Permanent seat at UN Security Council " -PM Modi

Only country to have hostile relations with all of its neighbours at one point or another.. Only country to have persecuted all of its minorities at one point or another.. 60% population living below poverty line.. With untouchable humans in its basic cast structure.. Hmmm! Must qualify to become a part of this present int'l gov!!

India has been the largest troop contributor to UN missions since its inception. :disagree:

Indian Army United Nations peacekeeping missions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now this arrogant yank is suggesting that African and Latin American countries just do not matter :cheesy: no wonder Latin American countries hate your gringo asses so much (I know first hand as I visited Colombia)

1. As for the largest peacekeeping mission thing, you guys are already doing it. If seat is not given will you guys stop sending troops ? I can bet my job that you won't

2. Latin america and other countries' voices don't matter in larger PICTURE. ( read restructuring UN etc )

Don't just fly of the handle. The childish arguments being given in the thread are reasons enough for you guys not being able to make a valid case !

So, think of it.

p.s You can call me an arrogant yank. But trust me, when a logical and cogent answer comes along I will be the first one to happily change my stance rather than beating around the bush.

Why do their voices not matter? can you educate me?

UN reform is going to happen one way or another of that there is no doubt.

Strengthening the UN

For restructuring UN security council, it doesn't !

Africa and latinos can't be relied upon to voice something cohesively. Who are we kidding

If something is pushed down their throats, ofc some one will say YES some say NO.

But I don't think they are interested in deciding the content of the deal which is pushed down their throat :D

No one is interested in your idea of marginal benefit. But I will still make a case. In the case of the Falklands conflict India would have carried out the most intelligent recourse of mediation. In the end the war was between a bunch of losers. UK- chickenshit power holding on to the Islands, Argentinians whose geographic claim had more validity but were unpopular among the islanders so could not claim it legitimately. Before the British come and declare how they 'won' the war, lemme assure you, the only reason why you won the war was because the ARgentinians ran out of Exocet Missiles. If I were an Argentinian general I would not have even started this adventure before taking the full delivery of Exocet shipmets ( a fatal mistake). Therefore it was highly likely that the UK would have had a lot of egg on its face too. So 'mediation' wuld have been the best route.

India has also been in such situations. We annexed Goa from the Portugese, invaded Hyderabad and helped create Bangladesh. So our experience in these things is quite remarkable.

Fair enough. What else ?

Outdated United Nations 'must reform', warns Nick Clegg - BBC News

I am talking about the overall reform of the UN not just in regards to the Security council.

Calling for permanent seats on the UN Security Council for Japan, Germany, Brazil and India, the deputy prime minister said the international body does not reflect the modern world.
He said Africa should also have permanent representation.

That IS the solution.

In any case the hypotheticals you are asking are useless. India represents 1/6th of Humanity and world security is ill served if this large group is not adequately represented in the Security council. There needs be no further reason.

I think you want to live in a bygone era but it's 2015 now not 1950. It's time to wakeup and think logically for a sec.

Some random Deupty prime minister ???? Deputies don't decide foreign policy. He sugarcoats it.

Let's say 1/6 humanity is not represented in UN? Then what ? I mean seriously ! It's not as if they can't decide their destiny. They get to chose their govt in province and center right ?

He is part of the coalition government in UK, again sounding like a arrogant yank who's only opinion matters :disagree: Now I can understand why gringos are robbed in Latin America.

See when I went Latin America they welcomed me to their house and offered me whiskey and wanted to know about my culture. Yet they do not speak so well of you yanks and now I can understand the reasons why.

what has racism got to do with this?? jeez....:tsk: this is geo politocs/power games. you do know that several countries in south america like Argentina, chile etc are white right?? loool funny to see people always brandishing the race card even when they are farrrr more racists than us.
Mike 2000 is back ? :lmao: what happened to your original id?

what a jackass! UN does not give them the right to select their government- that is the fundamental right of any state with or without the UN. The UN is only a platform where all countries come to discuss their problems. And the question is how their questions are prioritized. That's the UNSC's role. India's say in world security as one of the biggest and most powerful and populous nations on earth has to be higher.

At least this is an honest assessment. And in the same way that you will try to keep your influence, others will try to erode yours. That's the law of nature.

Yep I know. Hence why they call it the great game. Let the bests win. :chilli::cheers:

Well said my man. Its for this reason I LMAO when I see modi saying India is the most piece loving/non aggressive Buddhist country in the world. Does he think he is talking to ileterates/naive people? :cheesy: Does he know our leaders officials know more about these games better than him?lol For we have been playing these games all over the world for centuries. Just because we keep quiet for now dosen't means we dont know what india has done in past and is still doing at present in its neighbourhood interfering in their internal Affairs. We have our reasons for turning a blind eye for now. :partay: So i don't know who modi is trying to fool with his Buddhist loving peace maker. Lol
