Italy and egypt made a contract last year that allowed ENI to drill for gas infront the egyptian coast and it was sucessful. The gas field is enormous. It will change the energy problem for egypt and even allow egypt to export gas. The deal is an exclusive deal between italy and egypt, because italy supported al-Sisi. That means only ENI is allowed to drill there.

Eni discovers a supergiant gas field in the Egyptian offshore, the largest ever found in the Mediterranean Sea - Eni

Europe is gona be warmer this winter :enjoy:..though euro is still gona make it to ruski land (defense)

Honestly speaking...that project would have been impossible with the Muslim brotherhood goons.

ENI invested much money in the exploration. That means it needs security, trust and stability.

Its an important deal between Italy and Egypt. So important that it was made priority both by italy and egypt.

That gas field is gigantic and the CEO of ENI informed first PM Renzi and then president al-Sisi.

Actually we do have gas. And by the way this gas field was discovered during Cast Lead operation against Hamas. Another coincidence?

Great news for an energy-hungry country like Egypt. This will come handy for the 90 million neighboring Egyptian brothers and sisters. It might even help kickstart regional projects such as the proposed Saudi Arabia-Egypt Causeway for instance and other infrastructural projects which can improve the economy of Egypt and help contribute to the economic, infrastructural, educational etc. growth of the region.

Is there any region of the world like the Arab world which has been blessed with so many natural resources, minerals etc? It's like one giant goldmine. If we just had leaders like in the past and not the largely incompetent current lot. Oh, well.

If the issue of rulers/leaderships/regimes was handled the sky would be the limit. One day this will happen but it would be great if the "project" could be kickstarted earlier.

Another thing, now Egypt won't need to import Israeli gas although relations are fine nowadays. I guess that this goes for Jordan as well.

this is just the beginning

Something tells me that a lot of the Southern Mediterranean Sea is left unexplored or at least still has a few hidden gems. Let's wait and see.

I don't really know the details but I am sure that both parties will benefit but I imagine Egypt to get the vast majority of the cake. Besides Egypt is a developing energy-hungry nation of 90 million people so for them such a finding is very, very good news. Italy on the other hand is already a well-developed economy.

ENI probably has lined up Libya next. They have one of the longest Mediterranean coastlines if I am not wrong.

Libya is the problem...Libya is our hood...our colony and Gaddafi was our muppet there. ENI had exlclusive deals there...since Libya went down the toilet ENi had a lot of pressure because losing investments. We believed that similar fields could be near egypt. Thats why Renzi supported al Sis from day one. And it paid out. Those fields can replace our libyan fields.
