Pakistan will not find it easy to dismantle the elaborate network of jehadis because their "anti-Indian culture" is strong in this
country, the New York Times reported on Monday.

"Sympathies for Lashkar-e-Taiba and its jehadist and anti-Indian culture run deep in this country, raising a serious challenge to any long-lasting moves to dismantle the network," the Times said.

It quoted an unnamed officer of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as saying that the Lashkar commanded 150,000 members and together with the Jaish-e-Mohammad, the jehadis could put Pakistan "up in flames".

However, the jehadis "were good people", the paper quoted the officer as saying.

The primary goal of Lashkar, which operates under the front of a charity Jamaat-ud-Dawa, is the defeat of India. The group embraces a strong anti-Israeli platform and adheres to Ahl-i-Hadith, a strain of the Wahabi sect of Islam, the Times said.

Lashkar has the capacity to quickly and inexpensively train young men from villages into intensely driven, proficient killers, warned a US official.

US officials say they continue to press Pakistan to prevent any further terror attacks and were still trying to understand the state of relations between Islamabad and the Lashkar, which has been linked to the November 2008 Mumbai attack that killed some 160 people, the report said.

Pakistani Army chief, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, has said that he was trying to control the group.

Pakistani officials say that though they were being more vigilant, they want India "to stop messing around in Baluchistan".

The paper said that the evidence of Lashkar's sophistication in the Mumbai attack is the voice of one of the attackers' handlers, speaking fluently in English, on what seem to be tapes of telephone intercepts provided to Channel 4 in Britain for a documentary.

"The tape suggests that the handler had military training which went beyond basic terrorist preparation," the report said quoting Sajjan Gohal, a terrorism expert in Britain.

As soon as India quit supporting the Jehadis we will beat them, even though we will beat them. But it will be lot faster if India don't support them.

This is really amazing that India is telling whole world that Pakistan is carrying those terrorist in his country but fact is that India is supporting those terrorist 80% to show Pakistan bad what a game.

And the paper quoted an expert “Sajjan Gohal” apparently an Indian. Right ? Never mind

it would be better to post the entire report with link.

Thank you

Well picked but then again dont forget what else the purpose of Indians on this forum will be if they dont find and come up with articles such as these to give some sort of support to their strawman argument.

:) no worries buddy. These kinds of tricks only weaken their position and frankly it is the failur of Indians that an organization which is basicaly operating in India, and they failed to counter it.

Look at the location. India has no open border with Pakistan. There is strict checking and no one can easily enter India. It means if anyone act there he must have local support.

Look at the this silly report where it said "quoting un-named officer of Pakistani army saying that lashkar with other groups can sent Pakistan up in flams"

If that is the situation then why would army support it in the first place.

but again at the end i would not give much importance to someone called "Sajjan Gohal" an Indian indeed who would present an Indian view. And an Indian view is that they are too scared of Lashkar

Inspite of the overwhelming evidence linking terrorists to pakistan and their help in running and sustaining militant camps they act like ostrich burying its head in sand.

Terrorists are partners in arms with pakistan military. Whatever the newly elected civilian governemnt tries, its brushed off by the Military.

The Tehreek E TAliban (led by Baitullah Mehsud) are NOT Jihadis! They are Munafiqs!

Jihad is an integral aspect of Islam...

I hate it when people portray Jihad as something it is not!
