Not at all worried. As long as they are good Americans, ethnicity does not matter. Both Microsoft and Google (and dozens of other tech companies) have Asian American CEOs. BTW, TSMC is run by ethnic Chinese. American companies are totally satisfied working with them. In fact, they are even building a factory in Arizona.
How Americans feel? Happy or worried?
But I heard US will ban Chinese students learning STEM in US.Not at all worried. As long as they are good Americans, ethnicity does not matter. Not true. The ban is only for PRC students connected with PRC military. Other ethnic Chinese have no problem.But I heard US will ban Chinese students learning STEM in US.
Don't be so sure. This dude will do more work for the ban. What I'm saying is, China has full potential to surpass US as long as it has enough money to invest in AINot true. The ban is only for PRC students connected with PRC military. Other ethnic Chinese have no problem.
In our country, that 'dude' is just one man. Any such ban has to pass Congress, agreed by Biden and should not be rejected by courts. Our government is complicated. One dude can't do whatever he feels like. We had a dude called Trump. He wanted to do a lot of crazy stuff. Courts said no. He just sulked. He didn't send any judges for reeducation camps in Alaska.Don't be so sure. This dude will do more work for the ban. Your country has done many stupid things already.In our country, that 'dude' is just one man. Any such ban has to pass Congress, agreed by Biden and should not be rejected by courts. That I will totally agree. But Most countries do a lot of stupid things.Your country has done many stupid things already.
Research team is small. Dozens of peopleBelow are results from 640 openAI linkedin profile. Only 13 from China. About 16 other Chinese sounding names from MIT, Stanford. Assuming 200 are technical, just 15% of OpenAI technical guys are ethnic Chinese.

I mean the core researchers. You are right. I never worked in big tech company.I bet you never join big tech technical team. It is not just R&D. You got
1. Algo (matlab, pytorch...etc)
2. system
3. software front and back end
4. software c/c++
5. tech support
For big system such as ChatGPT3, they could have at least 50 algo (most important guy)
Man, the Chinese are so pathetic lol
I don't think OpenAI put us to shame. Chinese high tech companies don't have deep pocket compared to US companies. Less money means less investment. The output is reasonable. Another reason is US chip sanction did have negative effect on China' AI development because of lack of high performance chips. We are still waiting for breakthrough in lithographythe chinks were bragging up and down that they were world leaders in AI. OpenAI put them to shame. Now the same chinks are trying to stay afloat by claiming OpenAI just because a FEW chinese work there
