After the successful IRNSS-1D mission in March, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up to place three satellites of a UK-based firm in orbit at one go.

The PSLV C-28/DMC-3 mission is slated for June and the launch date will be decided on Friday.ISRO had inked an MoU with UK-based DMC Imaging International (DMCii) for placing three of its earth observation satellites in orbit last year.

“We will be using the ‘XL’ version of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) for the mission. We are hoping to have the mission in the third week of June, but the exact date of the mission will be decided at the Mission Readiness Review Meeting on Friday,” M Chandradathan, director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), said. The three satellites combined weigh only 800-900 kg so a single mission would suffice, Chandradathan said. Initially there was a plan to carry the US satellite SkySat-3 also on this mission as a secondary payload, but a final decision on it will be taken on Friday. The PSLV C-28/DMC-3 mission is one of several commercial launch deals that the Antrix Corporation, ISRO’s commercial wing, has signed in recent months.

In fact, it is the next mission in line and will lift off from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota. In recent missions, ISRO has come more and more to bank on the PSLV-XL rocket, a version of the conventional PSLV fitted with bigger strap-on boosters which was first used in October 2008 for the Chandrayaan I mission.

It was then used seven more times, all with success, including the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) in November 2013 and the IRNSS-1C and ID missions in October 2014 and March 2015. The three other missions planned for this year after the DMC project - two IRNSS satellites and Astrosat - also will be using the XL version, ISRO officials said.

It will be fun now to see those "comments" in Daily mail or The Telegraph of our toilets, poverty and AID...... Seems the British needs an helping hand from us now :)
It's not helping hand but purely business and poverty, lack of toilets , aids are reality in India. We need to acknowledge it and solve it. Does that mean we should cut down on scientific research projects ? No.

I agree with you but what Tridibans meant is they want us to shut scientific research projects as all people don't use toilets.

Its already speaking, thats why this thread!! :D Britishs are full of arse burning idiots, not only against India but many others.
No one's asses are on fire, few idiots with news blogs don't speak for Britain . There's British PM for it. They are our esteemed customers and we are providing them a service which is mutually beneficial. We earn dollars, they get their satellites launched for cheap. That's about it. We should let go of the false bravado.

What false bravado here?

Doesn't it hurt their ego to have tech assistance from a impoverished third world nation? This is what socialism does to a nation, Margaret Thatcher must be turning in her grave.
Nope.

Even Thatcher was one of them who came in Indira Gandhi's "antim sanskar". Indira Gandhi was ideal for Margret.

To insuinate that we are doing a favour by doing our job.
Do you really think the British could not do this without our "help" ?
They can, but its cheaper for them to launch it though pslv, its like our IT service , they are outsourcing jobs to save money.
We will have the right to boast when we have a launcher better than ariane 5 or something of that magnitude. Till then we should put our head down and work.

But yes we should be happy about it. So cheers :)

No one claimed its a favor. where did you find it? I said its a slap on those british idiots, because when ever India launched a satellite for chandrayaan,or mars mission they were first to bring toilet etc.

I remember the mahatma words when I see comments on Dailymail and Telegraph.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

I feel happy that they reached the third stage, not long before we win.
