I think it is still banned for bribery allegation (10 years) along with Singapore Technologies Kinetics, Rheinmetall Air Defence Zurich, Corporation Defence Russia, T.S. Kisan & Co. and R.K. Machine Tools. The last two are Indian companies.

India cancels Israel Military Industries boycott - report

Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI). The measure will pave the way for negotiations between IMI and the Indian Ministry of Defense on potential joint projects, including development of a battle tank for the Indian army, according to a report from New Delhi by US periodical "Defense News."
The information is attributed to a source in the Indian Ministry of Defense. The ministry has not published an official announcement that the boycott was removed, but notified IMI management of its decision in September. Indian Ministry of Defense officials and diplomats in the Israeli embassy in New Delhi did not confirm the report. According to "Defense News," IMI management sources did not respond to the report.

.
The previous government in India, controlled by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), imposed the embargo in 2009, following accusations that IMI had bribed officials in Indian government company Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) in order to win a tender for production of 155-mm artillery shells in cooperation with the Indian company's plant in the Nalanda district. Five other foreign companies, including companies from Russia and Singapore, were accused of corruption in the same year for the purpose of winning military tenders, and a boycott was imposed on all of them. The "Times of India" reported in 2012 that IMI would be barred from operating in India until 2022. In any case, the Indian uncover police never proved that IMI paid bribes, according to the Indian source who reported the removal of the boycott.
"Globes" wrote in 2012 that IMI's involvement in the bribery affair had excluded it from taking part in defense deals in India, while other Israeli defense companies were prospering in the country, where demand for weapons and systems has been constantly rising. "Globes" called 2009-2012 "lost years" for IMI. 2013 and 2014 were also obviously lost for the company in India.
According to "Defense News," now that the boycott has been removed, the Indian Ministry of Defense plans to consider new possible defense projects with IMI. One possible project is a partnership in the development of a battle tank for the Indian army and the establishment of a factory for joint production of various types of munitions, particularly 155-mm artillery shells. IMI was a leading contender in the competition for developing the tank before the boycott. In addition, due to the boycott, the Indian Ministry of Defense canceled IMI's win in a tender for the production of a system for loading 155-mm ammunition slated for production at an OFB facility.
What caused the removal of the boycott? According to "Defense News," the exclusion of the company from the Indian defense industry caused a shortage of 155-mm artillery ammunition. Former Indian army chief of staff Gen. (res.) VK Singh reported to then-Indian Minister of Defense AK Antony a "critical shortage" of various types of ammunition. OFB was incapable of supplying the Indian army's munitions needs, and India became dependent on Russia for its ammunition requirements.
IMI has always denied any involvement in bribery. Following the decision in 2012 to bar the company from doing business in India until 2022, company management stated that it had "acted legally, and would continue its actions with the authorities in India to settle the matter." IMI said it intended to appeal the decision to the authorized parties in India, because it had been "based on erroneous reports, and ignored documents and figures that IMI had given to the Indian Ministry of Defense."
A source involved in the matter told "Globes" reporter Yuval Azulai in 2012, "IMI fell victim to wider affair involving a number of defense companies operating in India. In its case, however, a competing company had motivation to implicate IMI in this dubious affair. It is not as if this is not something that never occurred before in giant tenders in various places around the world."

What about the other companies Blacklisted. Are bans for them removed too.

Do we have the capability to revive Bheem alone ? If not then Denel should be one company which should immediately get its restrictions removed.

I do not think there is a ban on any company. The incumbent government would deal with all companies and nations as long as the deal is beneficial to the country. The DPP 2016 which went live earlier this year provides a lot of flexibility.

India ends ban on Denel

India has lifted its blacklisting of South African State-owned defence industrial group Denel, US website Defensenews.com reported on Monday, citing a source in the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD). The MoD reportedly communicated the ending of the ban to Denel in a letter dispatched on August 12.

The group had been blacklisted by the previous Indian government following allegations that it had paid kickbacks in 2002 to win a contract for 1 000 NTW-20 anti-material rifles (plus 398 000 rounds of ammunition) for the Indian Army. The ban was imposed in 2005, by which time 400 of the rifles had been delivered. At the same time, India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a probe into the deal.

The CBI terminated the investigation late last year, after eight years of work failed to find evidence to support the allegations. “Denel will now emerge as a keen competitor in India’s $4-billion variety [sic] of 155 mm/52 calibre artillery gun projects,” Indian defence analyst Nitin Mehta told the US news site. The ban on Denel actually halted the Indian Army’s acquisition project for 155 mm/52 calibre artillery pieces.

The lifting of the ban on the South African group could have a wider significance as well. An anonymous, New Delhi-based, executive for a non-Indian defence group told Defensenews that the “decision to de-blacklist Denel and allow it to do business in India will send a positive signal to overseas defence companies to do business in India”.

An anti-material rifle is a large calibre rifle (in the case of the NTW-20, the calibre is 20 mm) intended to target vehicles, semi-hard and high-value equipment at long range. Popularly referred to as a kind of sniper rifle, these weapons do not, in fact, necessarily, fall within this category. The NTW-20 is fitted with a recoil management system, allowing it to be fired by slightly built soldiers. It comes in two versions, the NTW-20x110 and the NTW-20x82.

The defence minister also revealed he was finalising a new, flexible policy to deal with corrupt arms vendors. "I don't call it blacklisting any more. Probably we will have the discussion today or tomorrow to finalise it. It is now being termed as 'penal provisions'," he said.

This would replace automatic blacklisting, and arm the ministry with a range of instruments, including financial penalties and a formula to impose them; short-term banning from defence tenders; and, in extreme cases, long-term banning.

"Punishment has to be based on the intensity of the crime, and seriousness. You cannot punish every crime with ten years sentence. Sometimes financial penalties are

so why any deal with imi?
its not officail the remove from blacklist

Bheem is over, because K9 with L&T won the contract. However, I've heard unoffical noise of DRDO putting their new ATAGS on Arjun. This is obviously down the line, if it ever happens.

Denel is working with TATA in the wheeled program, however.

My only concern is numbers. If our top brass actually plans and intend to lead a successful armored thrust cutting of the north and south , we need no less than 450 of these...

L&T or DRDO or OFB , only concern is getting that fire power , as I found Bheem project quite close to completion , I personally feel sticking to it will yield quick results ....

so why any deal with imi?

I may be wrong but IMI was one of the competing companies for supplying Multi Caliber Rifles which got cancelled. Deals will be concluded as and when projects get importance .... and funding.

PS:- Dealing in India requires some extra patience ....

imi dont sell rifle any more they sell accurate weapons like accurte rockets accuret artilery
iwi sell rifle its diffrent company

The requirement is high, but the funds arent their yet for the full number. Why the K9 deal was only for 100.

It makes little sense to have different platforms serving the same role in the IA. Now the K9 has been selected it should be the standard SPG of the IA, it is a world class platform that will be built in India (by L&T). As the IA demands they will increase orders and surely L&T will respond by ramping up production, considering any other option now will needlessly delay the entire induction process.
