Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be making a diplomatic visit to Israel next month. However, in an unusual move, he will not meet with the Palestinian Authority.

“This is going to be a purely bilateral visit. He is coming to visit us, and only us,” a senior Israeli official told the Times of Israel. “It’s a great achievement for us.”

The decision is out of step with the typical behavior of foreign dignitaries visiting Israel; even those representing countries with close ties to Israel almost always spend time in Palestinian areas, if not meet with PA officials in Ramallah or Bethlehem.

PA President Mahmoud Abbas did visit New Delhi last month. “India has been unwavering in its support of the Palestinian cause. And we hope to see the realization of a sovereign, independent, united and viable Palestine, co-existing peacefully with Israel,” Prime Minister Modi said at the time.

The relationship between Israel and India has warmed considerably over recent years.

According to the Times of Israel:

“India has adjusted its traditional pro-Palestinian voting patterns at international forums in Israel’s favor. Israeli and Indian companies have recently sealed massive defense deals, and three ships from the Indian Navy were in Israel last month for three days of exercises.

Of course the Israelis are India's friends but we can not and must not deviate from our stand of a 2 state solution .

Israel has gone out of its way to help India, it is only right the favour be returned. Thank god there is a party and PM in India with the b@lls to put their nation's interests FIRST.

What does India get out of Palestine? Not a damn thing. India and Israel are natural friends.

It's not about what we 'get out of Palestine', whether we directly get something from someone or not, shouldn't be the deciding factor to maintain normal relationship IMHO.
India has business and strategic relationship with both Israel and Iran and hence should treat the Palestine issue strategically.

The age of letting morals guide foreign policy are over, OF COURSE it should be based on a cost-benefit analysis. What tangible benefits does India get out of Palestine?

Where did I say moral should guide our foreign policy?......read these words 'business', 'strategy'.
There may not seem any apparent benefit from Palestine but in todays world, no country/territory is isolated and alone, we need to look at the broader perspective, otherwise the 'cost-benefit' analysis you're talking about, would be flawed.

Anyway, I do not think Modi's not visiting Palestine while in a trip to Israel is any indication of taking sides. It's strictly a bilateral visit for some reason and when required, he will also visit Palestine IMHO.

You mean the same iran that just reneged on a major oil deal? Who cares what they think we should break ties off with them.

Until now it was the interests of GCC .Now their influence in our matters is consistently reducing.

Foreign policy should solely be decided on national interest.

what do we gain if we support Palestine ?
