An Israeli cabinet minister said on Sunday that Israel had covert ties with “many” Arab and Muslim states but was obliged not to name them at the other sides' request.

A rare interview given by the head of Israel's armed forces to a Saudi-owned news site was published on Thursday, further fuelling talk of close links.

It followed previous broad hints by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and accusations by Hezbollah that Saudi Arabia was pushing Israel to attack the Lebanese group.

“We have ties, some of them secret, with many Arab and Muslim states,” Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz told Israeli army radio on Sunday.

“Usually the one who wants those ties to be discreet is the other side,” he said in response to a question about ties with Riyadh.

“We respect the wishes of the other side when contacts are developing, whether it is with Saudi Arabia or other Arab or Muslim countries.”

Although Saudi Arabia and Israel have no official diplomatic relations, they share a common enemy in Iran, with both seeking to limit the Islamic Republic's expanding influence in the Middle East.

Netanyahu has also spoken repeatedly and with pride about growing rapprochement with “moderate Arab states” without naming them, although he is assumed to be referring to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf monarchies.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with countries of the moderate camp in the Arab world, in the face of radical Islam,” he told Israel's parliament last week.

“I think that this growing closeness and consultation is first and foremost good for security and ultimately for peace,” he added.

Tensions between the Saudis and Iran have intensified in recent weeks, with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri saying he is stepping down over what he called Iran's grip on his country.

Iran-backed Hezbollah, which is dominant in Lebanon, is also a great enemy of Israel with which it fought a war in 2006.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said on November 10 that he had “information that Saudi Arabia has asked Israel to strike Lebanon”.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani last week echoed the allegation.

Military intelligence cooperation[edit]
Despite the hostilities against each other, both countries are reported to have directorates to deal with each other at an intelligence level.[1] The history of Pakistan–Israel intelligence cooperation dated back to the early 1980s, when Pakistan's President and Chief of Army Staff General Zia-ul-Haq allowed ISI to establish a secret directorate to deal with Israel's Mossad.[22] Intelligence offices were set up at both countries' embassies located at Washington D.C. where Mossad and ISI, with CIA, ran a decade year long anti-Soviet operation, codename Operation Cyclone.[23] Under this operation, Israel proliferated Soviet made-weapons to the Afghan rebels fighting the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, and Israel supplied weapons to the Pakistan Army.[23]

WikiLeaks, in a disclosed United States diplomatic cable, revealed that ISI had secretly passed on intelligence data to Mossad. ISI had intercepted information that Israeli civilians may be targeted in a terrorist attack in India during September and November 2008 (following the 26 November Mumbai Terror Attacks that among its targets included a Jewish centre—the Nariman House).[24] It was reported that Pakistan's Lieutenant-General Ahmad Shuja Pasha was in direct contact with Israel's Mossad.[25]

Israel and Pakistan were both allied to the United States and the western bloc during the Cold War, while India was allied to the Soviet Union's bloc. India supported the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan and supported the pro-Soviet Afghan leader Mohammad Najibullah. Pakistan and Israel opposed the Soviet invasion, with Israel supplying arms to Pakistan to give to the Afghan rebels. Israel had captured the weapons from Palestinian groups such as the PLO who were supplied by the Soviets.[23]

Read a book dude... not wikipedia..
Read Bear Trap on Anti Soviet Ops by Brig Tirimzi... ISI itself never got involved with MOSSAD.

It was through CIA... which bought captured AKs and other soviet weapons from israelis and .303 ammo even from india.

And than in the 90s... Israel sent F-16s to bomb Kahuta Labs....Remember? Not to forget israels support to india in 98... airlifting ammunition for kargil conflict.

Its alleged that ISI informed the israelis (most likely) through a third party about a possible attack in india... but nothin solid except wikileaks...

Only contacts were made by Musharaf when he shook the israel PMs hand and faced flake...

Im sure ISI might maintaine a limited contact... like all intel agencies but thats where it ends.
Even recent statements by yahoo werent really "Pak friendly"...

P.S: Do tell us what info israelis could provide on swat ? next to fukin nil...
