What's new

Israeli elections 2015

And in the end he backpedals with his idiocracy and now says he didnt mean it like that.....

He's a scumball and the Israeli version of Dick Cheney as far as I'm concerned. We'll see just how arrogant he is if the US doesn't use veto power in the security council. Time for him to be taught a lesson.

Professor Gerald M. Steinberg, President of watchdog group NGO Monitor, said today that Israeli democracy suffers from the “severe problem of foreign interference.” Steinberg was responding to a Washington Post article, in which he was quoted, analyzing the role of foreign money in the Israeli election.

“No other democratic country in the world is subject to such massive interference and blatant subversion,” said Steinberg.

“Groups like V-15, OneVoice, Ameinu and the powerful New Israel Fund operate entirely outside Israeli government regulations and campaign financing laws, and this must end — no democracy can allow itself to be manipulated by unaccountable and irresponsible political frameworks.”

Earlier this week, Netanyahu warned that his political opponents in Israel’s general election on Tuesday were benefiting from “tens of millions” in foreign support.

The Washington Post published a story today about the amount of foreign money injected into the elections. While the paper said that there were millions in foreign money spent on the race, there was no evidence of tens of millions having been spent.

Steinberg praised The Washington Post piece for “highlighting the severe problem of foreign interference in and efforts to manipulate Israeli democracy,” but he thought it was too dismissive of European efforts to influence the elections.

“Kessler’s piece gave short shrift to the tens of millions of dollars provided annually by European governments to political groups such as B’tselem, Peace Now, and dozens more,” Steinberg said. “This practice is a form of modern imperialism, with the Europeans using money for NGOs as the main form of influence. All of these forms of interference and manipulation will be examined in detail in the Knesset in coming months.”

Netanyahu apologizes to Arabs for voter turnout remark
Prime minister says he never intended to offend when he warned the public that Arabs were ‘voting in droves,’ but Joint List rejects move

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday apologized to the Arab citizens of Israel for comments he made about their voting turnout on Election Day, which were sharply criticized as being racist and offensive to the community.

“I know the things I said several days ago offended some of Israel’s citizens, hurt the Arab citizens,” Netanyahu told representatives of the Arab community at the Prime Minister’s Residence in Jerusalem. “This was never my intent. I apologize for this.”

The apology was met with enthusiastic applause from the Arab representatives, several of whom embraced him after the statement.

However, the Joint (Arab) List, which swept into the Knesset with 13 seats last week, rejected Netanyahu’s overture and said it will continue to campaign on behalf of the Arab community, Channel 2 reported.

According to a statement from the Joint (Arab) List, “The racism of Netanyahu and his government will not end with the inciting statement that he distributed during the elections.

“Racist legislation and exclusionary, discriminatory policies are Netanyahu’s working plan also for the coming Knesset, so we can only reject his apology and continue our struggle for equality for the Arab population. Likewise the Jointcalled on Netanyahu to return the mandate that he received on the basis of incitement and intimidation,” added the communique.

In a video published on Netanyahu’s Facebook page on Election Day, the PM said Arab voter turnout was high, in a warning intended to increase voter turnout among supporters of his right-wing Likud faction.

“The rule of the right is in danger, Arab voters are coming in droves to the ballot boxes,” Netanyahu declared in the video. “Left-wing NGOs are bringing them in buses.”

The remarks drew sharp condemnations from Israelis across the political spectrum, including President Reuven Rivlin, as well as from the White House.

Netanyahu said the video was not representative of his record.

“My actions as prime minister, including the tremendous investment in minority communities, prove the opposite. I think, too, that we must never let anyone outside the state of Israel interfere with our democratic process.”

He added that he saw himself “as the prime minister of each and every one of you, all the citizens of Israel, regardless of faith, ethnicity or gender.”

Arab MKs had demanded that Rivlin force Netanyahu to apologize for his remarks and said they would ask Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein to recommend that the prime minister be tried for his comments.

Netanyahu and his Likud faction won the election with 30 seats, while main rivals, the Zionist Union, scored just 24 seats.

Starting Sunday, Rivlin began holding consultations with representatives of each political party that won seats in the Knesset to hear their recommendations regarding which party leader is to be given first shot at forming a coalition.

A total of 67 MKs gave their support for Netanyahu to lead the government and Rivlin is expected to formally task him with assembling a coalition later this week.

Big mistake, Arabs are enemies of Israel, this only showing Israeli weakness and strengthening Arab enemy from within.

Netanyahu is in Jerusalem, not in Tel-Aviv. And Obama's term is over in 2016.

Congrats for voting this guy and his likes in again, I really don't care much for internal politics of Israel, but peace ain't gonna happen, I'm willing to bet now, we'll have at least one other war before this yahoo's term is over.

Though, if you did vote for him, I hope it's because of his internal policies, because if it's about foreign policy and Palestine, then he's neither going to give you peace nor stability, unless of course you're okay with that, in which case it'd make perfect sense to vote for this guy again.

.
I want to congratulate and thank the Israeli electorate for putting Mr Yahoo back in office. You had me worried there for a minute! That guy Herzog didn't impress me at all. He was a wimp! And what kind of a name is Herzog? Sounds like something you would say before you throw up a double sour cream burrito! Not stately at all...

Natanyahoo on the other hand, is something else! He is like our good luck charm. Everything he touches, turns good for us. He is the gift that keeps on giving. He is like our Ahmadinejad for you. Except that guy was unfortunately limited to 2 terms only. You know us Persians! You always have to give more than you take from us... It's nothing personal, really..

AnyYahoo, we look forward to having a long and fruitful relationship with that magnificent bastard....

Thanks again

No they won't.

Americans are probably the worst when it comes to combining critical thinking and Israel.
Undying, unquestionable, guilt tripped support fed into the masses. Well paid, stuffed and beaten into submission 'yes-man' politicians.

Hugely biased media.

However, the main difference and positive change is the factor of social media. Which is media less influenced by the usual bias of the media giants, the power of lobbyists, rich men and their money.

Keep up the social media war, it is the most effective weapon against the Israeli narrative, and the see no evil approach of it's allies in the US and Western Europe. This stuff bothers the Israelis a lot, which why they spend so much time, effort, people and resources to make their own presence on the internet.

So, Technically Israel is the Superpower of the world because she controls the Politicians in USA..

but what about US military's thinking?, Is they really support Israel ?

Military is entirely subordinate in the US. As are politicians when you wave some money at them. Israel is no superpower, but it has done a fine job in rallying the governments of the West to it's cause. No other country on earth could get away with what it does for so long.

but Persons dying are military men not the Politicians, their fellowmen are dying because of nothing ..

Bad. Mizrahi Jews are the greatest supporters of Likud, mostly because of Labor's discrimination against them in the first few decades of Israel's existance. Mizrahi Jews also feel the need to display more vocal hatred towards Arabs in order to deny their own Arabness. As to Mizrahi Jews being the introducers of Arab culture in Israel, that's a ruse - Arab cuisine and music entered Israel via imitation of Palestinians and Israeli Arabs. It's Levantine Arab culture that is influent in Israel. Mizrahi Jews, however, are overwhelmingly not from the Levant - they came mostly from Iraq and the Maghreb. Presenting them as the introducers of Arab culture in Israel is just an excuse that Israeli propaganda uses to dodge accusations of cultural appropriation.
Many mizrahi jews are also Iranian or Persian. Israel has around 300 thousand Persian "jews" including its exx president/rapist.
